I recently ordered from Big Kahuna Hawaiian BBQ, and it was a complete disappointment. First of all, the food arrived cold, which was a huge letdown. But the real shocker came when I took a bite of the chicken— it was still raw! I couldn’t believe it. Not only was it inedible, but it also made me question the restaurant's food safety standards. For a place that’s supposed to be known for quality Hawaiian BBQ, this was absolutely unacceptable. Definitely won't be returning. Avoid this place unless you want a food safety scare.

Big Kahuna = Big Disappointment. We chose this company to cater our wedding recently. Big Mistake. Where do I start… The food arrived cold. We had warmers and full kitchen but the damage was already done. With dinner scheduled to start at a specific time there wasn’t much opportunity to warm the food without overcooking and burning. Now the portion sizes…. We had a small wedding of about 50 people. The food didn’t even stretch to accommodate our guests. We were told “There is going to be plenty of food.” Our guests, my wife and I still went out to eat afterwards. I personally could’ve smoked the meats he provided for half the cost and had fed 50 people with plenty left over for the opportunity for seconds. The next day via email we told him of our issues with portions and food temperature. His argument was he should’ve charged us more because we asked to split (half rice/half Mac salad) the side items we ordered. We spent about 1000 dollars for food that did not live up to what he told us. He offered no concessions and argued with my wife at every turn. Very unprofessional.

Cater at your own risk.

The food was good... but nothing spectacular. Ended up spending $17 for the Combo-Bowl ... a SMALL order of rice and 2 different types of meats (Huli Huli Chicken and Brisket). The meat was good, just needed to mask it all with their sauces (which 1st one was free, but 2nd sauce was $0.75). The sweet spicy sauce was just a glorified sweet & sour sauce (or a Mae Ploy Chili sauce) but the spicy BBQ one was actually pretty decent).

Everything tasted ok, just super SMALL portion sizes (definitely at close to $18 should of had some leftovers) - but food was scarce on the plate.

The food also came out unexpectedly quick- which just means the food isn't really made to order. It's just re-warmed up, but seemed re-warmed in a microwave (and not a grill)- as the meat was a but chewy and no grill marks or nice "char" on the meats.

Also believe $2.25 for a can of soda was a bit over-priced. But know with raised overhead costs... the expense usually goes back to the customer. Just felt that I was paying a great deal- for not a lot back.

Love Hawaiian food- but this place is NOTTTTTT it.

The food good. But they seem to hardly ever be open due to catering which is unfortunate.

Ate there once and then had them cater to my wedding. Everything we ate both times was amazing! Every guest raved about how good the food was & and we happily told everyone where to go.

Gary came to the rescue for a last minute order for 85 people (picky teens!). He had great communication, prompt delivery, and most of all - the food was a huge hit. Thanks Gary and Big Kahunas! We will be more timely about our order next year!

I went here for the first time today, and I ordered the Korean short ribs with mac salad, and kimchi. The beef was very salty it wasn’t very good, it’s overly salted meat that had no flavor. This was one of the worse Korean short ribs I’ve tasted. The mac salad, and kimchi was so bland and disgusting. I will not be back here again. Waste of money! I will stick to my local spot it’s 100 times better. I had to throw the food away. I live in Beaverton I didn’t have time to go back, and return our food. I would rate this place a zero.

This place is good. Chicken bowl for under $10 is almost unheard of these days. Great Hawaiian food at a reasonable price.

This is the first place I ate in Portland when I moved here over 10 years ago, so I will always have a place in my heart for them! You can’t go wrong ordering. Everything is delicious

I had a chicken and rice bowl and it was delicious. Only thing I can say is I wish they were open more

We had our holiday party catered by Big Kahuna. Wonderful! The food was amazing. Even the details were great: bamboo plates, high quality plasticware, and all the utensils. We highly recommend and will return!
