They have great food, but the service is very poor. We went on Friday night 11/7/25 around 5:30 and they were very busy. The staff was not prepared for the rush, and it really affected their service. We had to ask for our own water, and when the waiter brought it to our table, he was very rude. You have to pay/tip when you place your order, before you get your food and before you even know how the service is going to be. Great food, just bad service, not prepared for a busy rush, and they were very overwhelmed.

My goodness, this place is amazing. Had a coworker bring me there for lunch, and I haven't eaten this good in a LONG time. Super high quality food at great prices, and a nice atmosphere to boot. It's Portland, so YMMV, but if you can manage a sunny day and sit on the patio by the river while eating the juiciest, crispy-skinnest, most flavorful brick chicken you'll ever have, you won't regret it. I have every intention of visiting again and again, and trying everything on the menu. I'd give six stars if I could, it's just. that. good.

I have a great friend that has been trying to get me to eat here for years. I wasn't sure it was my kinda place, cause I'm a bit redneck.... but man is it good and the people are all so nice! I have now been going a few times a month for the last 8 months or so. Each time I try something new, it is delish! Yesterday was the chicken parm sandwich, I might get another one today!

Bistro 23 has great food and always fresh. I found them 6/7 years ago and always make a point to come here when I am in town twice a year. The menu changes with the seasons with fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers. Definitely need to try one of their salads or if you want some comfort food the Bolognese is the best I've ever had.

The atmosphere is a modern casual-formal dinning experience. Id say you can come as you are relaxed in casual dress, or put on some nice digs and take your gf here.
