This is amazing place. I tried their assorted drinking chocolates and it was fabulous. The place has a nice ambience to chat and sip chocolate.

Great service, lovely chocolate. Very knowledgable, friendly staff. The drinking chocolate is worth every penny. It's very rich and flavorfull.

I live in Los Angeles and visit Portland several times a year; Cacao is always my first stop. I mostly get the 8oz bags of chocolate chips shown in the picture, but we always try something new from their amazing selection of high-quality chocolate bars as well. Do not leave the store without trying the Valrhona Dulcey 32% caramelized blond chocolate chips, they're so good! It tastes like butterscotch and shortbread got together and in an addictive combination. The Felchlin Maracaibo Creole 49% dark milk chocolate chips are also delicious for those of us who want a smooth, creamy middle-ground between super-sweet milk chocolate and super-bitter dark chocolate. Perfection!

expensive but very good quality. Try the 3 shots flight. I have never tasted chocolate this creamy and good.

Exotic chocolate shots. You will find college grads doing HW over here, or a retired prof solving sudoku over his chocolate mocha. Nice ambiance to enjoy with friends and family. If you want owner will give you a history tour. A small cozy but happening place.

One of my favorite spots! Their drinking chocolate is so decadent and they even have actual cocoa pods for sale! If you need a chocolate fix, this is the place.

What a great place to sit by the window, looking at the busy city and drinking "drinking chocolate "! I ordered their classic Medium size cup cacao drinking chocolate and enjoyed it so much. It was dense and not super sweet. My partner enjoyed the Oatly dark hot chocolate (with oat milk). Will come back for sure.

In downtown Portland, it is near my favorite places and was super informative and nice while I ordered a couple of gift boxes. This review is based on the chocolates and not any of the hot chocolate, but stop by for some gift for people.

I was looking for something to drink around the area and somehow stumbled on this place. The name of this place is cacao drink chocolate so I opted for a shot of the drinking chocolate in Rivoli. It was so rich, felt like I'm just drinking a melted chocolate bar. My friend got the everyday hot chocolate, and we both agreed that this place has the best hot chocolate we've ever tasted. It was indulgent enough to keep you wanting more with a slight bitterness to keep you satisfied until the next sip. Also ended up getting some chocolate bars to bring home as gifts that were made in Portland. They even had some interesting flavors of chocolate bars to choose from. LA definitely needs some place like this.

We found this place from a travel book's recommendation and so glad we're did. Such a rare occasion when we're get to taste pure cacao in delicious hot chocolate. The ambient and service is so complimentary to the tasty drinks. We're also tried the icecream variation and felt in love with it. A must try when you visit Portland.

If you have not had the pleasure of drinking chocolate you are missing out. It's like hit chocolate but without all the unnecessary ingredients. This place is very good and quite cheep. The flight gives you a taste of all they offer so you can decide what you need more of.

Did you know that Portland has higher number of chocolate companies than any other city in USA!!! That's because small batch, artisan chocolates are made here in rose city than anywhere else in entire USA. If you're a chocolate lover or even have little interest for chocolate then this is a must visit place on your list. Rarely will you ever find a spot that has excellent chocolate drinks which is what this place is all about. They care very high standard chocolate drinks here, you can try their FLIGHT of chocolate which has three different flavors in small glasses, every flavor is unique. Make sure to drink water to cleanse palate after trying each chocolate flavor. They also have a display of chocolate bars from around the world and all those bars are small batch chocolates which are pretty good made with various cacao percentages.

Super nice warm environment we are from Hawaii and it was freezing outside and hungered down in this little shop! I had to slip in the Hawaiian chocolate here! Must come!

Three varieties of drinking chocolate? What's not to love? They no longer have my favorite toffee but they took the time to explain why not, which I appreciate. It's one of the best things about Portland.

Exquisite little shop with all kinds of chocolate bar options, and excellent drinking chocolate. We enjoyed a sampler they offer of three different drinking chocolates; all were very tasty, making it hard to pick a favorite! If you like chocolate, you'll love browsing the many, many different chocolate bar options here, and other chocolate treats. The shop is very modern and chic in decor, brightly lit, well-stocked, and the person working there was friendly. We stopped in here as part of our bike tour of downtown Portland, partly because they offer restrooms, which were also very clean and spacious. Good stop for the tour, and well worth checking out.
