Truly an exceptional spot for French-inspired food. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Our favorites, though it's hard to choose, were the foie gras dumplings, the foie gras ham sandwich (don't recall the official name), and the chicken liver mousse. But honestly, every dish we tried was amazing. Highly recommend for a date night, dinner with friends, or even a solo visit. Side note: I've been here before for their steam burger, and it was incredible too.
Our first time here and we were underwhelmed given its reputation. Some of our dishes were lovely (fois gras, broccoli steak frites) but others were mediocre (tartare, Caesar salad). The menu was fairly limited. The wine book is extensive but way overpriced. (One of our favorite wines at home was selling for over three times standard retail.) We were a party of five and seating was cramped about table. The speaker for the sound system was directly above us so while we enjoyed the 70s funk playlist, it made conversation a bit challenging. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive but also regularly interrupted our conversation to check on us. I'd rate it a 3.5. Would I go again? No, not given the price.
Overhyped. The food is average at best and overpriced. The so-called ‘duck stack’ is nothing more than an egg over pancakes with a bit of oily ground duck. Foie Gras appetizer is tiny grilled liver over toast. Plenty of better dining options exist elsewhere.

Food was absolutely delicious. The honey roasted apple Caesar was fantastic, the foie dumplings are truly out of this world and the duck frites- perfect. Sitting at the bar watching the kitchen staff work their magic was a fun experience as well. Can't wait to go back. Only downside was that due to the nature of the space, we did leave smelling like ‘restaurant'.
Drinks, starters/apps were all top notch. The Oeuffs , and the waguy tartare were awesome. Main course was good, but steak fritte- no sear on the steak, and gnocchi, unfortunately all I could taste was the Demi glaze- too much balsamic. Still good, but not as stand out as the starters.
Incredible little spot. Had a great cocktail and some of the best oysters I've ever had. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Greg at the bar was fantastic as well. Next time I'm in Portland I'll be stopping by here for sure.

Overall top notch experience. Food was excellent, we even ordered one dish twice. Max was a wonderful server and we loved our time at Canard!
Still thinking about the gnocchi

I bought a digital gift card for here and when buying it, the website popped up with an error. I bought again thinking the transaction didn’t go through when it did. I’ve called multiple time asking for a refund for the accidental one and each time they said, someone would call and get back to me. After about a week and a half, I called my bank to dispute the charge since no one is getting back to me. I wanted communication from them, since spending a total of $300. I’ve never eaten here, and don’t really want to given how the communication was.
Hi Andy, I’m not sure who I spoke with but they were all females. I called on 10/25 around 5:30, at that time they said give it 3 days and should be in your account. It wasn’t there by 10/31 and called at 6:04 pm, they said someone would call me the next day due to starting dinner service. I didn’t see this until yesterday but I did get a voicemail from Andrew on Monday so I’m assuming it’s probably you, so my apologies for not seeing that. But all is well, I got my money back from the bank. Thanks!

Canard has become one of our go-to spots on the Eastside. Great food - - the duck stack should be bronzed and hung on the wall in the Portland City Hall. Always a satisfying wine list - - though not as extensive for beers. Wait staff is superlative - - genial, attentive, expert. The general vibe is a relaxing, cozy city bistro. Looking forward to our next visit (and more duck stack!).
I selected Canard to be the place where I would celebrate my birthday this year. I've heard mentions of Canard over the ten years I've lived in Portland but have yet had the opportunity to try it and I finally decided to give it a shot. My partner and I were recommended by our waiter to order 5-6 dishes to share all ranging from about $10-$40 and so we did. All in all, the food was perfectly decent, the service was perfectly decent, the ambiance the same. It was a very typical dining experience in Portland with really no frills or thrills. The portions were particularly small - (example: 5 broccoli florets for $16). We left just about full and paid over $250. I'm not sure if our experience was just a fluke or if folks should expect to pay a premium for a pretty mediocre dining experience.
I am a LOVER of French food, and there were two dishes that we ordered TWICE they were that good! The foie gras dumplings were LIFE changing and the foie gras musubi. Everything was delicious but these two were just outstanding. The whole night was lovely but I will say the event space above them was so incredibly loud when they had their bass going, it over took the beautiful music the restaurant had playing it was that loud. We were almost done with dinner when it started but that was the only downside to coming here. It didn't ruin our overall experience just was a bit annoying.
Service was slow even thought our reservation was directly at opening. Weird system of ordering everything at once instead of the typical drinks, then appetizer, then entree. Food was good but not great, drinks were fantastic.
