Open while construction in progress. Walk around building to the left. Espresso and other beverages, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and popcorn. Prices seemed reasonable. We only got espresso, but the food looked good. Prices seemed reasonable for the venue. Staff was friendly and efficient. It is accessible without zoo entry. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Nice cafeteria style option in the Zoo with enough choices to refuel yourself and rest a moment. Cashier was friendly enough and they had decent drink options. There was also a limited seating area along the Bird Arboretum which was cool!
I have actually made a trip to the zoo just to eat at the cascade grill. I don’t know why but this place serves such good food. One of the best burgers in the city. They just updated their menu and it has even more great food now. It’s a little bit pricey but not prohibitively so. It’s local, sustainable and supports the zoo and staff. Highly recommended. The only downside is the short hours. I’m always disappointed when I come and it’s closed.
