I wanted to support a local specialty coffee business instead of giving my money to Amazon, but Clive Coffee made me regret that decision instantly.
I bought a Fellow Opus grinder for $200 that arrived defective—it simply wouldn’t dial in properly no matter what I tried. After extensive troubleshooting, I’m certain this is a manufacturing defect. I contacted Clive within 10 days of purchase, expecting them to stand behind their products like any reputable retailer should.
Their response was appalling. They gave me two options: 1. Deal with Fellow directly myself (so much for retailer support) 2. Pay a $50 restocking fee plus $20 shipping just to get a replacement
So they expected me to pay $70 to fix their problem of selling me a defective product. On a brand new $200 grinder.
This is beyond unacceptable. This is the kind of customer service that makes me never want to shop with a company again. Amazon would have sent a replacement immediately with no questions asked.
TL;DR: Don’t waste your time or money with Clive Coffee. Their customer service is terrible, and you’ll be much better off buying from Amazon. Never again.

Clive Coffee is tremendous team of experts offering quality produces and superb service after the sale! From the initial contact from sales, Clive Coffee was extremely responsive to my initial inquiry, then followed up with very solid professional assistance with knowledgeable staff guiding us to the right equipment to support our mobile coffee hut. They then followed with providing a staff member who was our point of contact to receive and set up the equipment. We had several questions as new we were new to the coffee business. Every time we called, a live person picked up the phone and provided the assistance we needed. We weren't shuffled from one person to the next. The person that answered the phone provided detailed help for the specific commercial machine, grinder and auto-tamper we had. In addition, they provided us access to two training videos specifically tailored to our needs free of charge. Felt compelled to write a review today, 9 years ago I bought a Lucca A53 from Clive to start my own little coffee shop. Purchasing this machine was a big investment for me at the time and Clive was incredibly helpful in meeting my needs and steering me in the correct direction. First of all if you’re looking for a work horse of an espresso machine the Lucca A53 that I bought has been incredible. It now is used as a home espresso machine but for 8 years i pushed it to the limits and it did not let me down. On some days I would have a line of at least 50 people and it would pull shot after shot. In the 9 years that I’ve owned it not one part has broke. Only trouble I’ve ever come across was programming issues and that is where Clive has been the best at what they do. If I have a question Clive has already published a page on how to fix it. They also have countless helpful videos explaining the machine and different programming options. If you need parts they got it, if you have questions they’re already way ahead of you. So thank you Clive Coffee your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed!
