CLYDES REVIEW & Why It Sucks!

My wife and I stopped by last night for a 6:15 PM reservation. I’m 76 and handicapped, and she’s 78 and in excellent health. The hostesses offered us a high traffic, uncomfortable and high traffic 2 top just inside the dining room next to a family with kids. When we asked for a booth my wife was told take it or leave it as she said they were saving the many empty and much cozier tables and booths for larger parties. This was supposed to be a belated 76th birthday party dinner for me and we had driven 45 min through rush hour traffic to get there. Now we have eaten at all the fine dining restaurants in the area for the last 60 years including this one in every one of those decades. We were really looking forward to a nostalgic time, and instead we were effectively turned away by your callous, unsympathetic and rude hosts before we even were seated for a drink. This is by far the worst and most disrespectful we’ve been treated in ANY establishment simply because we didn’t want to dine on a very expensive dinner seated at grand central which was more appropriate for a single than a senior couple including a handicapped senior with comfort and mobility issues. You ought to be ashamed of yoursdlves for such harsh and unfeeling way you treat your seniors. We don’t at this point expect to be back to endure the firewall of humiliation and insult of your front of house staff again.

My husband and I had a reservation at 5:30 we were promptly sat. We had 2 appetizers 1 prime rib bites 1 Brussels sprouts both were fantastic. I ordered the prime rib and baked potato my husband ordered the chicken sandwich. My prime rib was fantastic it was cooked perfectly, when I asked for medium I got medium. ❤ My husband ordered a chicken sandwich the salad was good and so was the sandwich (he regrets not ordering the prime rib) we also had desserts the Bananas foster pudding (we didn’t care for and they promptly took it and took it off the bill which we didn’t ask for but appreciated and the key lime pie was fantastic. Buddy that key lime pie was so good it definitely rounded off the meal. I love the theme and the color scheme of the restaurant.

I live in the neighborhood and this is my go to for celebrations and visitors. I’ve been twice in the last month. Waiter was great but somebody needs to check the host. No a family of 5 doesn’t want to cram into a booth and yes the larger booth was available. Our last visit we waited for 30 minutes. The host is the first person to set the mood and pace. I’d like to see someone else do that at my next visit.

Great place, but one person in our group got really nauseated right after finishing his meal and threw up as soon as we got home, so I have to give the food 1 star. Great service and loved the dining area in the bar.

This was mine and my husband's first time ever being there. We were beyond impressed. The atmosphere was cozy.

Our server Esther was absolutely amazing. She took amazing care of us and was perfectly attentive. Got us everything we needed in a timely fashion.

The food was perfect. They cooked my husband's prime rib rare. Most of the time his meat comes out over cooked, but this was almost perfect.

We got the calamari and it was some of the best I've had. I got the baby back ribs, they came with a lot of meat on the bones and the sauce was delicious. Definitely recommend.

Would 100% recommend to anyone we will for sure be back.

Great food, good service, good happy hour in bar and live music after 9 in the bar. Nice dark atmosphere in bar, typical nice steakhouse vibe in restaurant.

I brought some people from out of town. We ordered our food but it came warm, not even hot. The server kept passing us by, the atmosphere was great. The band was great..

WEnt there on a business dinner and everything was great. Quiet enough to have a conversation, good food and exceptional service. Perfect amount of time between courses.

Overall the atmosphere was similar to what I remember from eating here 15 years ago. Classic old school steakhouse with good service. The food was not as good as I remember. The prime rib was so so, baked potato was on firm side but still cooked. Onion rings were the best part. The sour dough bread seem mass produced. Another steak ordered was just ok. I think there is definitely better steak to be had in Portland at these prices . Wait staff was terrific.
