We ate here many times during our stay. The staff is exceptional!! Shout out to Amber and all the lovely folks I met during our stay who hosted us and made my oatmilk Chai in the mornings. See you next time we are in PDX!!

Kid-friendliness: We got the chicken tenders with fries and chocolate milk I dunno how many times. It comes with a little to go cup for chocolate milk. ?

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. Ordered pickup. Didn’t get the broccolini that was supposed to come with the salmon. The salmon itself was half the size of a dollar bill and they charged $36 for it. The chicken tenders were appetizer size. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

Great little bistro! The bartender was very attentive, effective and accommodating. The atmosphere was great. And the food was delicious.. best smoked salmon salad ever! It could have had more salmon on it, but it was still great.. loved the dressing and the mandarin slices on it! Will try the fish and chips tonight.

We feel sorry for the servers. They are trying very hard, but the food was horrible. Brick hard overcooked fish and chips. We paid $40.00 for the food, $4.00 would have been too much. Avoid this place!!

I decided to dine in, I was told to take a seat anywhere so I sat at a table across from a table with 4 ladies who after finishing their meals talk for a few then order some more and then was ask later if they were ready for the bill. My meal came I was asked if I would like ketchup, hot sauce anything like that, so I asked for hot sauce because my order needed a little kick. 5 minutes into eating a bill was brought to my table, like wait all these thoughts starting running cross my mind. I now felt like I was being rushed and every time I look I had an eye on me as if I dine and dash,ps I am staying at the hotel. I finished my OJ and wanted to order another and some fruits but my bill was already print and waiting to be paid. I finally asked for another OJ and it was added to my bill and it was brought to my table before the OJ, lol.. Another couple walked in and sat down I wanted to test what my mind was already telling me so I waited and watch and they ordered and ate and later had to ask for their bill. I just smiled payed my bill which has been looking at me for the past 45 min and walked back up to my room. Maybe it was what I was wearing “black joggers and a hoodie” or maybe the “color of my skin,” maybe if I sat longer I would of saw something different or maybe I make the waiter nervous or someone dine and dash the waiter before of my color.

It’s very sad to say that this restaurant does not accommodate for dark skin people… I was the only black person sitting having breakfast and the waitress was being very racist towards me. This waitress was Brandon and I hope the hotel manager sees this and take action because I did not enjoy my stay and had a really bad experience because the colour of my skin ??

As someone who has had to fly in and out of portland for years, the rose and compass has always been the perfect stop either on your way out to a flight or on your way back into portland! I have eaten here maybe a dozen times and it has never disappointed, with great food and spectacular service. the waiters are timely and very helpful, especially Rhonda
