This was our second time at De Noche. The food was fantastic like I remembered. We sat at the kitchen counter the last time and I liked that better than the alcove we were put in this time. It's a small place and it felt a bit cramped. I'd recommend the counter for a more rich experience. Food was great. Service was mostly great...Miguel in particular.

De Noche was a lovely place to celebrate a birthday. We did the full menu which was reasonably priced for how much food the two of us ate and each dish was wonderful. Unique flavors and combinations from start to finish. And that carrot cake to top it off! I wouldn't change a thing and we'll be back.

Could not have been more pleasantly surprised with our meal here. The staff is amazing and our chef “experience” meal was so totally killer. I would eat here every day if I did not live in Maine.

Service was great, food was really good as well. First time for us and definitely didn't disappoint on the flavors and spices they bring into their dishes. The only reason I put four stars instead of five was the cocktails, they felt a little light on the liquor compared to other restaurants in downtown but were same price point.

The food and service was outstanding. Did the tasting menu. A great choice. Plenty of food. Too much for us. The carrot cake was over the top! Love this place and will be back.

My husband and I and I travel to Mexico very often and I've yet to find a restaurant that can capture some of the upscale but authentic styles of food we've seen in our travels. Everything from the service, cocktail and food was fantastic. Their menu caters well to people with pallergens or vegan.

This was a repeat visit to De Noche, and from our previous visits we knew we liked the food, but that the service was spotty. This time was the snake-eyes for service (we never got to the food). 7pm reservation, we're a few minutes early, but we get a two-top by the door amidst large tables of loud revelers (Thursday night? but OK, no prob). I situations like this I'm cautious. We look at the menus, but when we attempt to order, turns out we've been given the wrong menus. We ordered cocktails in advance of getting the correct menus. About 10 mins later we have the correct menus. Normally I wouldn't order food before the cocktails arrived, but my partner jumped the gun. Multiple people come by to ask how we're doing and at each turn "Where are the cocktails?" -- no responses. At some point a server tries to bring some food, but I send it back because -- drinks still haven't arrived. At 30 minutes in, still with only water in front of us, the owner comes and offers a bubbly -- I'm not interested, but my partner takes a tablespoon. It then appears the drink order was lost, but it'll be "a while" before they come, because of big tables. Not acceptable to me in any way. OK, sometimes mistakes are made. But when the mistake was recognized, they didn't expedite our order. This rings true from other visits -- the kitchen and the bar have minimal communication. We've had lovely food here, but the price demands quality service, and they can't provide it.

I'm sad. I liked this restaurant but it's gone downhill. Tonight was just not a good experience on several levels. No serving spoons. No new plate each course (picture beef tacos and ceviche on the same plate). I was ridiculed by the waitress for asking for a particular cocktail (that I've had every other time I've been there). Not to mention, it was so loud, my ears are still hurting. Not good.

We love De Noche having been a few times and this recent visit wasn't quite up to previous experiences. With prices relatively high we expect things to sing. While we enjoyed two of the small dishes, the starter ceviche type dish had too many raw onions, which was the case with a few dishes, which through flavour balance off. The salmon with mole we finished with was the weakest dish of the night. While the both the salmon and mole were good on their own, combined with each other it was too rich and no balancing acidity to help out. We had one drink and split four dishes and dessert and spent $150 plus. No problem spending that but we left sadly a bit less pleased than past visits.

The menu was very minimal - very few options. Although I had a reservation for late afternoon on Sunday - the person seating me was not so pleasant and tried to seat me at bar saying that was what I requested - which was not true. I asked for table and was begrudgingly given one although restaurant was only about one quarter filled. Found the entire experience quite underwhelming from service, to menu options, to ambience (or lack thereof) - was not interested in woke descriptions of meal choices. I could have had a nice anywhere in Portland on this evening and unfortunately chose this place because was looking for Mexican somewhere near Ritz-Carlton. I use OpenTable frequently and almost always assign five stars for overall. This was my worst OpenTable restaurant experience in many years. I don't recommend this restaurant

The flavors are fantastic - complex, but not pretentious. Our party ate through the entire menu, which is encouraged and it felt like we were on a food adventure with each dish building on the last. Staff was delightful and informative. As a non-drinker I liked my mocktail choices. The dining room had cozy good vibes. We will be going back!

Phenomenal food and service. Ernesto was very knowledgeable about wines from Mexico and had excellent recommendations. We can't wait to come back!

what a fantastic experience! We sat at the barn and got to watch the finally tuned kitchen work and make incredible meals. The cocktails were innovative and wonderful, the food was incredible and the service impeccable. Each dish was masterly prepared, and we did the whole shared tasting menu. I highly recommend the full menu but come hungry.
