Alrighty… Let’s just start by saying: East Glisan Pizza is officially back in action, and in my humble (but seasoned pizza-loving) opinion, they are stepping into the spotlight as one of Portland’s top-tier neighborhood pizza spots.

Kristen, one of the owners, is a true gem. She’s not just running the show—she’s out on the floor, making sure every guest is comfortable, cared for, and probably cracking a smile. She took the time to chat with my group about the relaunch, the updates, and the passion behind it all. Honestly, hats off for bringing this Montavilla staple back to life. We needed this.

On my last couple visits, we were lucky enough to be taken care of by Beth, and let me tell you—she’s the kind of server who makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It’s the kind of service that makes you want to stay for one more drink, one more slice... maybe both.

Now let’s talk about the food (aka why you’re really here). The pizza, breadsticks, and salads were always solid, but the new and improved versions are truly next-level. The sauce is perfectly balanced (zesty but not overwhelming), the crusts are golden perfection, and everything comes out just right—crispy, melty, satisfying.

The Detroit-style deep dish has my heart. It’s cheesy and flavorful without being greasy or over-the-top thick. I even ventured into the vegan territory (yes, I’m that person now) and I swear, you’d never know it wasn’t the real deal. Flavor? Check. Texture? Check. Existential moment of doubt that it’s vegan? Double check.

I’ve also had the kale Caesar both times and thoroughly enjoyed it—the dressing is bomb. That said, I’m hoping for a classic romaine Caesar to make an appearance someday (because sometimes you just want the OG version, ya know?).

All in all, East Glisan Pizza is doing everything right. Great food, genuinely kind and passionate people, and a community vibe that makes Montavilla shine a little brighter. Go check it out—eat, drink, laugh, and leave happy. You’ll probably see me there. Again.

It's a nice small family owned joint. Sad they don't have the lasagna Sundays anymore. But hopefully they bring it back there next time I visit Portland.

This place is known for their Detroit style pizza, but they do have other options. I ended up getting the tavern style, which was a new style for them. It was a little too thing and crispy, but the toppings were good. I definitely want to come back for the Detroit style and give that a go. I did try the Parmesan bread sticks, those were really good. I think they deep fry them. The staff was super friendly and helpful, overall great experience.

I had no idea there were so many great ways to use a mushroom on Pizza! We tried Detroit style, NY style, and more. Everything was so delicious and their draft beer IPA selection helped wash it all down. Love this place. I just wish my office was closer so I could go more often.

I really appreciate all of their vegan options, esp the Vegan Sausage Pizza which is so good! (I try to remember to ask for it without the char- just a personal preference.) Everyone there is really nice. So glad East Glisan is in Montavilla!

Got the pizza, and it was just a puddle of grease. Couldn't even finish a slice

Best lasagna and garlic bread sticks I've had in a LONG time. Also, the desserts are SO good. The staff and atmosphere are very casual but super friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're craving good quality food👌🏼

EXTRA GLUTEN BABAY! This is still some of the best pizza pie in Portland!

Stopped by last night to pick up a pizza. The restaurant was busy but the host and hostess happily sat us at a table so we could order a few beers while we waited. The staff was warm and made us feel welcome even though we were occupying a table during a busy dinner hour just to wait for a to-go order. Pizza was SO delicious! Can’t wait to go back for the Monday all-day happy hour. An all around great spot for hospitality and yummy pizza!

The pizzas 1 detroit and 1 round mushroom were great as were the Caesar salads. One of the owners came to our table to say hello - very nice. We had a group of four sitting in the little lounge area. Fun atmosphere, great food & service. The stout was wonderful!! My third visit - consistently great food, service and atmosphere.

Breadstick bites are good enough to make me question reality and change religions to The Church Of The Carbohydrate

Unassuming yet cozy spot for authentic Detroit style pizza (I grew up in Detroit and can confirm!) Also the daily fresh made cannolis are crisp and delectable. 10/10 will come again for that taste of home I’ve been craving!

Some of the best Pizza in town. Love the sourdough bread sticks with the deep dish pizza. Great cocktails and much better environment than Kens. Note: if you give this place a low review but also review KFC, you don't deserve to eat here. You know who you are.
