The recommended pork with smashed plantain (Mofongo de Cerdo?) lived up to its hype. The pork is tender, spicy with a light crisp and is served with a ketchup-mayo type sauce. Plantains rarely excite me, but the way they make them here makes it a definite reorder. The portion is very ample, maybe too heavy for one. The Mercado is awesome, there's so much uniqueness in one place.

As a Boricua, this is my go-to spot for Puerto Rican street food! The mofongo is incredibly delicious and well done. The empanadillas are classic and a safe option for those who are starting to get a taste of Latin American food. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel right at home. Although the menu is limited, the food does not fall short of freshness and flavor. It's so good that it impelled me to show my support and write my first Yelp review :)

Wepa! Que comida deliciosa! I love coming here to grab their flavorful mofongo con carne frita! A little bit of home here in SE Portland.

I was born and raised in Florida, Was raised by a large group of women no less. And most of them were Puerto Rican. Coming here reminded me of my childhood, the food was bangin. and the Gentleman running the cart was very kind and enthusiastic. WIll be making myself a regular.

It's was OK considering there is no other Puerto Rican establishment in Portland. I would have rated it higher, but the prices are a bit on the high side also considering what's offered on the menu.

I absolutely LOVE Puerto Rican food, and this place wasn't an exception. I ate A LOT in Portland, like A LOT, but this place definitely sticks out. We tried the empanadillas, alcapurrias, sorullitos, and of course some tostones (all the fried stuff haha). The owner was super upbeat and friendly, and that, along with the vibe at the Mercado, made it a great experience.

One of the only places in the state of Oregon where you can get authentic tasty puertorican food and the owners are total sweethearts/good people. I eat here every week

My first trip to the PortlandMercado in quite some time. Excited to get to try this mofongo. Great flavor and texture and the chicken was cooked perfectly.

Absolutely delicious, authentic Puertorican classics. Ate there for dinner last night, going back for lunch today. - Had lunch there as planned, it was so good that we decided me dropping my phone in water was a blessing in disguise. We would never have discovered them if we didn't have to drive down Foster to get to the phone repair shop.

Might be a bit biased as a Boricua myself, but everything I've had here as been absolutely delectable. They focus mostly on street food like empanadas (the cheese one is my favorite), pinchos (awesome skewers-go for the pork!), and bacalaitos (fried saltfish). They have rotating specials which are always a huge helping of food for a very reasonable price! Took my blanquito husband here who had never tried Puerto Rican food before, and he is now totally converted to the ridiculously flavorful mofongo and tres leches cake. Also, Tony and Evie are the nicest people you will ever meet. Puerto Ricans have the equivalent of rich southern hospitality. Went a couple weekends in a row, they gave me stickers- and they remembered me! Don't know what else I can say-I love this food cart!

I am so blown away by how good the food is. I moved from a city in Massachusetts where Puerto Rican food was a big part of life. I do a search for Puerto Rican food in Portland every year or so in hopes that someone came through with the good stuff but, nope never until now! I'm over the top happy to have found this cart. I got a chicken skewer and a beef empanada. The skewer might have been the best chicken ive ever tasted. Perfectly cooked chicken with a crispy sticky exterior. So good. Skewers are hard not to over cook / dry out. It came with the perfect classic mayo / ketchup sauce and a few really yummy fried platanos. The beef empanada was amazing as well and the hot sauce was perfect. Everything was prompt and warm. This chef beats out my favorite places to eat in Holyoke / Springfield. Never thought I'd say that. People were lined up at the other carts serving food not even half as good as this place , which makes me sad because the chef really deserves the business. Much love !

One word: Mofongo. Best (and only) Puerto Rican food in Portland.

Been to Puerto Rico 3 times, just got back few weeks ago. This place is better than allot of the highly coveted local places on the island.

Wonderful experience overall. Food was delicious (especially the tostones), the staff is super friendly (got a free sticker when I picked up my food!), and super quick! (Last one to order food amongst my friends and the first one to pick it up) Would 100% come back again
