Me and my family were so excited to try this place out after seeing it on tik tok! And honestly it was one of the worst restaurant experiences. We went in they didn't tell us how anything worked. We sat down waiting for someone to take our order and no one ever came. I stood up and went to the front and the guy working the front desk said yeah your supposed to order up here. I would've never known if I wouldn't have gone up there. The guy at the front was not welcoming, quiet and didn't greet us at all. Very bad customer service to say the least. I wish I had a better experience. The place was also very empty and not what we saw in pictures. It would've been fine if the customer service was better. But it was horrible customer service.

This business is permanently closed! The sign by the front door says "open" but we were told by neighbor business owner that the restaurant has been closed for a while. Don't waste your time! (as of May 28, 2022) ** Do not order online order, they take your order online but again the business is closed! (they will take your money but no food for ya!)

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. Food was great, and the staff was super friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

friendly staff, DELICIOUS food. I wait all week for the snapper and grits on their brunch menu and from their dinner menu, I get the snapper and 2 sides of mac and cheese and asparagus for my vegetable. it looks good, the aromas are intoxicating, but the flavors!! this is truly tasty and satisfying food. super chill ambiance. all around wonderful experience.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had family visiting from out of town. We ordered almost everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. The yams however were beyond amazing! I thought My Nana was in the back cooking!!

Food was ok. Not a great value for the price. Service not so good - had to keep asking for water and service. New place so they maybe working things out. Definitely has potential.

Sea to Portland day trip and our 1st stop was everybody eats PDX. Food was amazing and the staff managed our large group like pros. If visiting Portland or never tried this place, I highly recommend.

I was really looking forward to supporting this Black owned business on our weekend getaway from Seattle. I have to say, I was disappointed. I won't go in too bad about every detail of our lunch. The temperature of the food was great. It was a little hard to start eating it after hearing someone sneezing in the kitchen multiple times. The "made in house" lemonade tasted like dirty water, we sent it back and asked for a can soda. The shrimp n grits were very soupy and I had to ask for a spoon. The batter of the catfish was pretty, but VERY greasy and too breaded. The beef Philly meat was chopped like carne asada tacos instead of sliced and was nearly NOT enough meat for the amount of bread. They use ALOT of old bay seasoning. The restaurant smelled old and dirty (they could use a deep clean and some smell goods). To be a little more professional, they should definitely invest in some t-shirts or aprons for the staff. We went for brunch. May or May not return for their dinner menu. Hopefully they read this and make some changes by then.

The worst food I've had in all of Portland by far. Waffles were cardboard. Bacon was straight rubber. Left before they even came back to refill glasses. You pay before u even sit down just so they get their money absolutely not worth it

I am... just conflicted about this spot. I have been super excited to stop by and when we had friends come visit from out of town, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to grab some brunch. Unfortunately the experience was just odd. They're still new and you can tell. The space itself is weird. It used to be a sushi belt restaurant and the sushi belt is still there. It made for a really weird set up. Service was fine but all of our food came out at different times. By the time I got mine, everyone else was finished eating. And they must have lost their liquor license as well because they no longer serve alcohol. I will say, my food was good. One of the best shrimp and grits I've had in town. I feel like once they find their groove, they really have potential.

I wanted to patronize a black owned business and this was one of the closer ones to my hotel. I checked the menu online and it seemed like they had a good variety. However upon arrival the menu was paired down.I wanted the banana pudding french toast but only regular french toast was on the menu and they said they could add fruit. When my order was brought out the French toast was not very warm and it tasted ok but nothing was impressive about it. My daughter got strawberry chicken and waffles she liked the waffles and said the chicken was ok. I left hungry; it was not fulfilling nor worth $15 or whatever I paid for the French toast. The floor was sticky and there were not very many booths to sit in and about 3 high top tables. Ordering was quick because we knew what we wanted, the food came out in about 20 minutes and the staff was friendly.I'd work on my menu, open the seating upstairs so more people can be seated, make sure the food is tasty and hot through and through. I probably wouldn't recommend this place to a friend.

The artwork around the place is what pulled me into this place. They have beautiful artwork that shows their proud for their community. The food was DELICIOUS ‍ My friends and I went for breakfast so we had the chicken & waffles as well as the grab omelet. The spices from the food was so good I wanted to keep ordering! The staff was so kind and the food came out in a timely manner. The only down fall is as that it was a little dirty but that wouldn't stop me from coming there again! Amazing atmosphere with good music

Worst restaurant I've ever been to in Portland. I should've expected it when the first sign that I saw inside was "100% no refunds on cooked food." Would never recommend this place to anyone. The service was weird and off. We didn't get any drinks or silverware until 10 minutes after our food was served. There were random people constantly running around, but the place wasn't super busy. They had an event upstairs, so I'll assume that that was part of it. I'd usually excuse bad service if the food was good, but it was awful. My boyfriend left 75% of his chicken and waffles it was that bad. The chicken was dry, bland, and soggy. I had the beef Philly, and it was not so much a Philly instead of just bread with some chopped up steak and peppers. Given the weird ambience, bad service, and awful food, it had absolutely no redeeming qualities. I'd give this place zero stars if I could.

I really wanted to love this place. I think the staff is trying, but they clearly have had no training on restaurants...the service was pretty slow and the system of ordering and getting food didn't work as we waited for 45 minutes for chicken and waffles. We were also the only people there by the time we got our food. The food redeemed most of the experience, but I hope the owners can see these reviews and make some simple, but necessary changes so this place can stay alive! Go for the food, be nice to the staff, and talk to the owner if they are there .
