Ex Novo Brewing Co. fought hard for their 3rd place position in our Top 5. Of the 8 beers we tried everything fell above the 3.5 mark with ease. Lucky for me, and not so much for Melissa, we visited at the start of “Fresh Hop” season. Fresh hop beers are exactly what they sound like and Ex Novo had several on tap already.Their Eliot IPA, our favorite from Ex Novo, came in two fresh hop varieties – Strata and Centennial from Goschie Farms about 50 minutes south of Portland. While the standard Eliot IPA sits at a 3.85 on Untappd, the Strata and Centennial fresh hops excel past 4.1 and are clearly local favorites judging by the comments sections.Ex Novo does offer beers other than IPA’s, but for hop heads, Ex Novo is a must visit late September thru early October. If you’re not a huge fan of hops, give the Cactus Wins the Lottery a shot. The easy drinking, 4.3% Berliner with prickly pear hits the spot on a warm September afternoon.

Tried to go on a SATURDAY night at 7:30 but was told "nope" they close at 8. A brewery. On Saturday night. Good luck staying in business.

We picked Ex Novo for for dinner tonight and sadly Uber glitched out and is blocking me from finishing the order specifically for this restaurant.I needed to change from pickup to delivery. Now I can't checkout. We tried to order from other delivery services and can't find the place. Can't leave anything positive here. A lot of time and effort went into the order and it is impossible to complete the order now. Get it together. We were all really looking forward to trying your place. Really sad to see the experience nosedive just trying to place an order. So d******

Ex Novo was the first bar we visited on our Oregon coast trip, and it was easily the best one we went to on our trip. The bartender kept us entertained the whole time with good chat about the beer, some cool history and pour styles and some good places to grab a bite to eat. Love the atmosphere and location. Recommend this spot for sure.

Cool vibe, a little hot but outside seating helps. I'm not a drinker but they have a beer for everyone. Friendly staff.

This is a great brewery. Rob made it awesome. He gave some great recommendations. The only thing that would make it better was if there was food available. But since there isn't, head over to Cliff's PDX to get some steak and fries.

This place was truly amazing! We walked in 5min before we closed and th3 bartender was nothing but incredible. Most will tell you to get the hell out and say they are closing, but this guy was very inviting and said we could get one drink before he closed up. Wonderful service and will definitely be back!!!

This place was fun. It is a very small brewery with some good beer. They have a cute little restroom, and I loved that they had a changing table inside the bathroom!I really enjoyed the Mexican lager called the Most Interesting Lager in the World. It is served with a tangy lime and it is perfect for any summer day. They also have merchandise. We bought a couple shirts.

Went here tonight for the first time. Beer was good, and the Detroit style pizza I had, was probably the best pizza I've had since I've lived in Portland (12 years). The crust was caramelized, and perfect.. lots of cheese, and the sauce was yummy. Definitely will be back..

This is my favorite brewery in the city (I'm not from the area). It was packed since it served as a pregame spot for a Blazers game, but the hostess went out of her way to accommodate us with the little wooden side bar in the back room. Really appreciated that. The Detroit style pizza (I am from Illinois) was outstanding. If you need to hit one brewery in the city, I'd choose this.

We were in the loft for a retirement party, so our experience was a bit different than typical. The service was great for as crowded and busy as it was. The beer was great, prices a tad high. The food we had was wonderful. The outside doesn't look like much the interior is a really cozy atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

I asked that boy of mine, I need Pizza so thick crust buttery and light with cheese and sauce highlighting the crust and a purposely burnt crust that melts in my mouth….he sent me here. I love that boy! Hit the spot. The Beer is all just fine.

Great place! I was really impressed with the burger, the bathroom amenities, and the way they just casually have awesome deep dish pizza. Being from Seattle, we only get pizza like that from places that make a big deal out of it (and cost way more).Good beer too.
