Izakaya Kichinto Reviews
The Tempura is out of this world! Delicious.
I came for a birthday celebration and absolutely felt, not only cared for but like someone who had visited 1000 times and a regular. The staff greeted us warmly and made sure we had every little thing we needed to make sure our evening was spectacular. Will be back.
Get the grilled salmon belly. Everything was very good but that guy on the grill absolutely killed it. Do yourself a favor.

Izakaya Kichinto offers a variety of tasty dishes, including vegetarian options and favorites like teriyaki salmon and fatty unagi. The menu is very diverse, featuring items such as robata, sushi, ramen, onigiri, and obanzai, making it one of the most varied in Portland. The robata dishes, like chicken tare and shio, mushroom, and shishito, are flavorful and well-cooked. The obanzai — similar to Japanese Banchan — includes delicious eggplant, spinach, and burdock. Customers appreciate the outstanding and attentive service, with staff who are super friendly and provide great recommendations. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, with two levels of seating, cute cubby-like booths, and low tables with floor seating on cushions for a fun, cultural touch. The artwork adds a nice vibe, creating a warm and inviting space. Although the sushi, such as salmon nigiri, is fresh and well-prepared, it is not the restaurant’s strongest point, as the selection is limited and the rice can be bland. The place is especially great for happy hour with many small dishes, but those looking for large entrees or a full sushi dinner might want to consider other options. Overall, visitors often praise the quality of the food, the friendly staff, and the enjoyable experience, making it a highly recommended spot for dining.
