A cool neighborhood bar that serves some good fried chicken and wings. The interior is clean and there are plenty of tvs with sports playing in the background. We ordered some wings, fried chicken, and a grilled cheese and tomato soup to eat. The person taking our order at the bar was pretty nice and patient while we figured out what we wanted. Fantastic dive bar. So many dives in Portland feel very manufactured these days. George's Corner feels authentic with a modest tap list but extensive bottles, cans and liquor, and a great menu. The bacon bleu burger was excellent and the fries were perfect.
This place has been through a lot of changes over the years, it used to be a lot divier which was honestly kind of part of its charm but got a reno a couple years ago and they’re going for more of a sports bar vibe these days which is kind of nice but honestly I kind of miss the slightly sketchier feel of Old Georges 😂 Consistently though, they have had through all their phases a really killer burger (one of the best in town IMO) and crispy fries, good ranch, good BBQ sauce....
