We had a wonderful time, 12$ free play Sunday is the way to go!
No skateboards allowed. Which is a bummer because it's not in an area of town you want to leave a bike, or even a car outside.
This place is just awesome!
Went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t too crowded even with free play going on. If there was an arcade game you couldn’t beat when you were a kid because it would cost $50 in quarters to do so, then Ground Kontrol is for you.
Pinball, stand-up shooters, DDR and classics like Galaga. Game cabinets, pinball machines, arcade area and bathrooms were clean and organized. Staff were attentive at both bar areas.
Bar food was decent for the price. We had the corn dogs (theirs are half the size of regular corn dogs) and pretzel sticks. Had some local IPAs, a local stout and a mocktail (non-alcoholic Don’t Call Me Shirley) that my mom liked.
Only issue was parking as this place is a block away from Chinatown, which is a cesspool from what we saw, smelled (!!!) and walked past, and that is where we had to park. Also Mario Kart’s steering wheels on both machines were broken ☹️.
We were denied entrance by the security guard because he searched my girlfriend's purse and she had one completely empty shooter bottle?
Ironically, the tiny bottle was opened many days before we went to Ground Kontrol, which we tried to explain. My girlfriend had the empty bottle in her purse because she did not want to litter and then obviously forgot it was in there. However, the security guard asked us to leave before entering, which I found extremely odd since we both had a shot and a beer at a previous bar, nothing more.
Why are you treating your grown adult customers like they're high schoolers sneaking in liquor to prom when they have an empty 50 ml bottle that they forgot about in their possession? Very overkill, you just lost two customers over the silliest thing.
Lots of games to choose from and there's a bar! Fun time.
The drinks are terrible. The place is fun though.
Cool place. Turns out that after 40 years, I'm not so great at one of my favorite games. Just means I have to go back and practice.
Amazing arcade. I got my son a $20 card and he played for hours! Most games are 10-20 points and a few higher and a $20 gets you 600 points. Classics all the way up to present day.
Very cool arcade bar... Decent food. Staff were friendly
