Food was excellent, cocktails were well crafted, and the service was perfect. So happy to have finally tried it after months of Instagram stalking. Their fry bread will live in my dreams for an eternity.

Fallen in love with the food especially the fry bread with spinach and artichoke,
If you are an artichoke lover must try their pan fried artichoke,
Lasagne was reasonably decent,
For my sweet tooth ended with an olive cake.
Unique thing about their cake was the addition of grapefruit slices in the cake which will give u a mix of sweet, sour, and bitter taste.

Found this place off of TikTok transparently and sometimes they can be a little overhyped BUT this wasn't the case with Gumba. From the moment I walked in until I left, I was treated with kindness. The food was phenomenal (I got the Pappardelle) and a cannoli. I sat at the bar and the bartender made some great drinks. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting OR local. I'll be back for sure.

I just visited a different new Italian restaurant in town and while eating it was wishing I was at gumba instead! They just do it best! Everything here is just so top notch, and will always hold a spot as one of my favorites in pdx!

I’ll first say that I have been to this restaurant before about 3 years ago and decided to give it another shot.

Our service was good so that’s not what the this is about.

What I do have to say is that the food literally has no heart in it. The dishes we ordered seemed out of touch and bland. And that is not something you can do in a place like Portland with all the incredible food this city has to offer. ESPECIALLY with the prices they charge here. I’m honestly surprised at this place is still open after eating food that tasted like an 11-year-old made it. I’m really sad to have to write a review like this, but I am completely disappointed with the money we spent and what we were served.

I was honestly really disappointed with my experience here. I chose Gumba to celebrate my birthday specifically because of their Spaghetti Puttanesca; squid ink pasta is one of my absolute favorite dishes and I was elated to see a spin off of it here in Portland. When we arrived, I was shocked to see that the menu had changed and the dish was gone. No specials, no warning, just a very limited menu that didn’t have anything that excited me.

Sure, I could’ve called ahead, but honestly, for a place that tries to position itself as a more refined, “elevated” spot, they should at least keep their website or menu up to date. It’s basic respect for the customer.

When I realized the dish wasn’t available, I genuinely wanted to get up and leave but my family had driven hours to celebrate with me, and I didn’t want to inconvenience them or make things awkward. I stayed and ordered the lasagna just to go along with it. It was… fine. Nothing to write home about. Definitely something I could make myself at home, which defeats the whole point of going out to eat somewhere like this.

I do want to acknowledge our server, who was kind, attentive, and genuinely tried to make the best of the situation. They were the highlight of the night for sure and even brought me a cannoli on the house, which was very kind. Overall, though, the experience really dampened what was supposed to be a special evening. It was my first visit, and unfortunately, it will also be my last.

Probably the worst service we've ever received when traveling, and we travel often. Host was very rude!

Gumba has been a favorite of ours so it was a no brainer to have them cater our wedding in North Portland. From the consultation to the wedding day, the general manager John and his team were amazing to work with! He is so chill and made sure all of our needs and wants were met. The food at the wedding was the main event and guests have not stop raving about it! John and his team provided amazing service and were such a welcome presence. They even went above and beyond and prepped kid specific meals without us asking, and boxed up all of our leftovers for us to take home!

Absolutely delicious. I had the ricotta gnocchi and my girlfriend had the lasagna. Both were the best I've had. Ended the meal with a cannoli 🤌

Sunday evening 9/21. Below mediocre service, waited for a drink order to be taken while watching no fewer than 4 waitstaff ignore us and one server ate their shift meal at the bar - being attended to by staff before we were. Got the feeling we were harshing the waitstaff’s Sunday mellow.

Too many people are out of work to keep apathetic waitstaff employed - especially to the detriment of in-person dining. No matter how good your food is.

Gumba may be my favorite restaurant in Portland, with the beautiful decor, easy service and most importantly, beautiful and delicious food - Gumba is a one of a kind in Portland.

I have been wanting to go here for ages but never got around to it. I had high expectations with the the great reviews Gumba has received and even with perception going in, I was BLOWN AWAY by the food.

I'm not kidding when I say the flavors, presentation and preparation of these dishes rivals the high dining restaurants of our city. Our dishes had me experiencing flavors I haven't had before, and for that alone it was awesome. Gumba is on par with my favorite restaurant in Portland, Kann, when it comes to all of these factors. I'm absolutely blown away and impressed!

The chicken parm was so unique with the corn flavored puree and the seafood spaghetti tasted unlike any other I've had. To top everything off, our cocktail and wine were perfect, and our desserts left us happy and satisfied.

Gumba truly is worth the rep that it gets. The decor, the food, the drinks, are all stellar. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I cannot wait to come here again. I HIGHLY recommend Gumba, beautiful and delicious food awaits you!
