Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod

We went here after being turned away from a close by vegan restaurant and I’m so glad we did! Although not every truck has a labeled vegan option many do, and the overall vibe of this place was amazing with fires to warm you up on chilly nights. I got a sushi poke bowl with tofu and asparagus that was just ok and a waffle with sausage and syrup which was great.

We got a burrito and a waffle sandwich, but there are so many more trucks to try! Tons of vegan options. This is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. Really fun, artsy vibes and plenty of shaded seating. Updated from previous review on 2025-05-25

The food options here are incredible! The variety is amazing, and the quality of everything we had was just great! The beer at the bar was a great price and it really pleasant to just sit back and have a drink and chill while enjoying the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and everything was amazing. We will definitely be making this a priority for us next time we are in Portland.

4 out of 5 only because there were alot of trucks not open. There was still plenty of choices to make it worth going. The atmosphere was very cool. There is another section of food carts 1 blocks down, which I believe is part total food cart count. We tried Slavic beef dumpings and sat around the gas fire. It was something different and fun.
