This place is the Portland dream: an incredible farm-to-table dining experience in an unassuming, DIY-charming little storefront - which you can just walk into without a reservation, on most nights. Yes, the service can be a bit spacey and slow, if always well intentioned. But the food and wine are so incredibly lovely it’s worth a little patience. While you wait out The NY Times hype at L’orange, eat here! It hits a very similar, very high note!
First time since Covid, that I've sat at a restaurant and felt that the service was top notch. With prices rising and tip auto included, the #1 complaint I've had is that the experience doesn't justify the expense, despite the greatness of the food. Not at Heavenly Creatures, from the minute we sat down, we felt like every staff member had a vested interest in us. The cleanly sourced dishes are prepared with care, and the intentions of the staff shine through the entire experience. I found the atmosphere to be kind, warm, and friendly, and was truly won over by the team here. Thanks for a great experience, and thanks for serving great, clean food!
