The food was just okay, nothing great. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly.
High Horse is a good place and convenient ... since you have to spend your "destination fee" at the hotel anyway. Our steaks were cooked correctly and breakfast was quite delicious. Attractive restaurant. It was noisy at dinner because there was a group who obviously had been there drinking for quite some time (and the waitress actually brought them more!) but normally it's quite peaceful in there. I don't know what the "surge charge" or "surcharge" of 5% on the bill was and the waitress couldn't explain it ... but Marriott is getting famous for adding extra fees on everything.
When I told the server we had a reservation she said they can't access the OpenTable system because they don't have the code. She said the person in charge had either forgotten it or didn't know it. It was soooo strange. I said I didn't want to be flagged a no show. She was not apologetic. So weird. Service was fine after that. Sandwich was good but needed more filling. Nice place but they need to get their act together on OpenTable.
We were so happy to secure a reservation on Christmas Eve, and the service from Jared and Kelsey was exceptional!
Nice little hotel bar. Great view and it's got great design. Good was good too.

Had a great experience with my husband here while staying at The Bidwell hotel. Enjoyed a delish espresso martini while playing pool. The lighting and music are on point.

Chicken sandwich was bone dry. Service was nice but a bit slow. I don't get it... Hardly anyone there. Nice, clean, "hotel-like" feel inside. Comfy chairs. Not recommended. There are much better restaurants in PDX. Trust me. I am a local

Cocktails & Mocktails are delicious. Food is ok, but over priced and limited menu. I’d recommend going for just drinks.

They did not have our reservation on their radar even though it was made days in advance and confirmed as well. Felt like a hotel bar that happened to serve food. Very expensive for what it was. There was a 20% gratuity added for our party of 8 which we were expecting but then an additional 5% was added with no explanation. Only one server and one bartender for the whole place on a Saturday night.
Started off ok, but my food arrived super overcooked, I decided to try it and see if it was edible, but found it to be too overdone. Unfortunately we didn't see our server again after he dropped our food, until he dropped the check and left with a brusque "thanks" called over his shoulder as he walked away.

I had a great conversation with the bartender, and he helped me make a great dinner and wine selections.

The ambiance is pretty fun and lively, drinks are good, and the food is ok. However, the whole place seems understaffed. If the hotel is going to funnel their guests in here due to the Destination Fee’s Food & Dining credit (since there’s nowhere else to spend it on), please ensure that there is appropriate staffing at dinner time because the ONE server for the entire place is really stressed, borderline rude. The sheer volume of guests trying to spend their $30 credit for dinner/drinks every night is way too much, and the High Horse staff is set up for failure.

For a hotel bar the food had good sized portions, I had the shareable brussel sprouts and they were almost too big to share with one other person. Drinks were a little spendy, and no N/A cocktails.

Incredibly friendly service! Wonderful spot for some cocktails. We were able to look out to the street and people-watch while enjoying our drinks.
