Sweet Husband and Wife… so quaint and nostalgic. Was staying in walking distance, and came in with my Grand-daughter. We had the most delicious pancakes we have ever eaten, and even ordered some to go!!! The steak and eggs were delish. Perfect sunny side up eggs. So hard to find nowadays! The hash blew my mind… I could have eaten three helpings!!! Just typing this is making me long for them again! We were treated like family, because I was raised to be respectful. I cringe at how some people treat those that serve them at restaurants. We can’t wait to go back when I am back in town…

Soooooo happy to see Jim & Christina are back up and running again. John's Cafe is well-loved by regulars, neighbors, and visitors.
This is one of Portland's most iconic, old-fashioned authentic diners - set in a designated historic landmark building with an important legacy. (Check out the historical placards on the front of the building and signs inside the cafe. Ken Bodie with KOIN 6 News did a feature in 2020, so check it out online.)
Super easy to find, near the North Park Blocks. Just steps from the #77 bus - plus many MAX, streetcar and other bus options.
Gotta try their delicious, hearty breakfast options. I totally agree with others about their yummy hash browns. Jim makes them crispy while Christina keeps filling your coffee. A dynamic duo!
Their sandwiches are classic and inexpensive. Lots of options.

This place is darling! The menu isn’t extensive but everything is delicious and classic diner food. We enjoyed three omelettes and the woman working there was so lovely. Perfect place for a scrumptious and inexpensive breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
