As a vegan eater, this place is excellent value. We’ve been three times and on each occasion, we get a fine dining experience in every way for $40-50 pp. The vegan mains are limited, there are 2, but they are $22-24 whereas the meat dishes are $40+. Desserts are awesome and virgin cocktails gorgeous. Every 6 months we visit and will keep at it.

Eating out with a long list of allergies is always stressful for me. Every year when my friend group goes out, I eat beforehand so I don’t inconvenience the staff. My allergies are my responsibility, not theirs. I’ve accepted that food is often something I watch others enjoy rather than participate in.

Kann completely changed that.

Not only did the team take my allergies seriously, they went out of their way to prepare a meal I could safely eat. Beyond that, they consistently checked in on me and our table throughout the night. I never once felt like a burden or an afterthought.

Food is such a deeply social experience, and Kann gave that back to me. I was able to fully participate with my friends, to share the table, the moment, and the joy instead of sitting on the sidelines. That may sound small, but it’s enormous when you live with constant food restrictions.

I could honestly cry writing this. I felt seen, cared for, and welcomed in a way that rarely happens. The food was incredible, but the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff is what I’ll remember most.

Thank you, Kann, for making space for me at the table. It meant more than you know.

Top notch service and an infinite level of flavor. Every dish was well seasoned and complex–including the cocktails mocktails and dessert.

The entire menu is dairy-free and gluten-free! I'm so impressed by the main menu - they list the vegan dishes on top and steak on the bottom. Something about this made me so happy. Vegan dishes should always be first. Only drawback of this place: Table placement. The two seater tables are so intimately close together you can hear every word of conversation of the people on both sides of you. The people next to me were talking about their relatives suicide. I'm like, I'm just tryna eat this fruit salad. It was a bizarre dining experience to have such happy things in your mouth and such sad things in your ears. It's mystifying to me how a James Beard award-winning restaurant can get the food to perfection yet get the ambience so wrong. Review of menu items themselves: The Summer Fruit Salad steals the show. It's a masterpiece. This little fruit salad is one of the best dishes I've had in my life. I'm so thankful to have tasted this dish. The selection and combination of the specific fruits. In particular, the inclusion of grilled pineapples. The sauce! Omg the sauce! It has a zing to it. Each bite is different. The symphony of flavors in your mouth is mind blowing. It's perfectly combined fruit flavors with a particular spicy zing that I can't place. I couldn't place the spice. But it was perfection. They'd be wise to make this a regular menu item. Peanut Creamed Greens were Delightful. The boiled peanuts and peanut sauce were wonderful. I would have liked it a little more spicy, but I like things spicy. The Diri Ak Let Kokoye, just being brutally honest, was a $16 bowl of rice. Yes, it tasted good. Just know this is meant to be ordered in combination with other dishes. Smoked Wildtype Salmon. Wasn't sure what to make of this menu item and asked the waitress. It's salmon made from the stem cells of a salmon. While not technically vegan because that stem cell originated from a salmon who was forced to give its life, " wild type" a/k/a stem cell salmon could save the lives of millions of others. I know PETA has been pushing for stem cell meats for decades. I was intrigued but not brave enough to try it. The Baked Haiti needed more spiced pineapple and basil. I regret getting it. The waitress said the vegan sundae is the best dessert item and I should have gotten that. Note: Reservations are preferred but not required. Walkins are welcome. You won't have much luck on a Friday or Saturday, but it's worth a try on a week night.

The food is delicious. Loved the space and decor. Atmosphere was lively. Tables are large to accommodate family style dining, so if you're seated in the center of the room, it can be challenging to hear each other at your table.

It's requested to place your entire order all at once. Be prepared, after you place your order, all your food shows up almost immediately, like under 5 minutes. We felt a little overwhelmed, but settled into it...enjoying just about everything including the comically small 2.5 inch cube of bread for $14.

After all this upfront action, the service and our experience fell apart. We tracked down our under attentive waiter and ordered more rice to help offset the spicy heat of a couple dishes, took almost 15 minutes for a small bowl to arrive at our table. Never had an opportunity to order a second drink, so we ordered a desert to share. 20 minutes for a small sundae to arrive. Good, but not worth the wait.

All in all, we liked the food. Felt the pacing of the meal wasn't communicated well and the experience wasn't relaxing. The service after our initial order was extremely disappointing.

This place serves lab grown salmon from a jeff Bezos backed startup which wasn’t properly investigated by the FDA which isn’t really clear on the menu. Glad I knew that’s what wildtype was. Otherwise good

Incredible meal! We chose 8 plant based dishes to share with our friends, and each one was amazing and creative; every bite was a punch of flavor. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did…am still thinking about the meal the next day. The dining room is gorgeous; service was impeccable. I would have liked better wine by the glasses choices. It wasn’t easy to get a reservation, but we are very grateful to have snagged one!

I’ve been a repeat diner at Kann since it’s opening, and have introduced and encouraged others to visit. This past Friday, August 8, may be my last time recommending or dining at the establishment.

I reserved a table for 6, but due to unforeseen circumstances, two of my guests had to cancel. I tried to call multiple times prior to our reservation to give notice of the party size change; calls are directed to voicemail. When we arrived for our reservation time, there was no mention of an impending fee.

I received an email from Resy the following evening, 8/9, notifying me that my card was charged $100 per restaurant policy. Come to find out, Kann made additions to the typical 24 hour cancellation policy: if your party size changes less than 24 hours before dining, you are charged $50 per guest not present.

Resy’s email noted that the charge is at the discretion of the restaurant. I immediately emailed Kann, explaining the circumstances (one guest was sick, the other had a delayed flight). I finally heard back from assistant GM Haley Hamilton, 72 hours later, who offered no flexibility or acknowledgement of the circumstances I outlined.

I’ve overlooked past instances of poor guest experience at Kann, including making guests wait outside in 100 degree heat due to arriving 5 minutes prior to the reservation time. But this particular experience has been disappointing, disrespectful, and I believe is in poor taste of what one would expect from an establishment like Kann. Imagine spending nearly $500 on a meal, and being charged $100 a day later. You’re telling me, if someone becomes ill, not only do you miss the meal, you have to pay $50 to the restaurant due to your illness? Is the restaurant that strapped for cash, that they must “nickel and dime” patrons after their meal?

All the food was amazing. The summer salad was so refreshing. They say the cauliflower is 7/10 spice and it's the spiciest thing they have, its really not that hot. We sat at the chef's counter which was fun, but loud.

Exquisite food and atmosphere. I especially loved the Wildtype salmon. The marinade was delicious, and the lemon vinaigrette was the perfect pairing. Great gluten-free options too.

Their Wildtype salmon was delicious! The other items on the menu did not disappoint either. They also had good gluten free and plant based options. I especially loved guava ice cream dessert.
