This place absolutely deserves its national James Beard award. Compared to a lot of fine dining, the flavors are a bit stronger and unafraid to use some actual spice - which I greatly appreciate. While everything was cooked extremely well, the sauces and jerk rubs were fantastic enough that I would enjoy those flavors on anything. As someone that spent years in the Caribbean, you can really see the flavors and influence pop through even though the restaurant makes strong efforts...
“Everything” exceeded expectations. We should not have delayed coming to Kann since it’s opening. Not a bad choice on the food & beverage menus. We ordered to share as we wanted to try as many dishes. Contender for a Michelin star if they did ratings in Oregon.
I can't remember when I had food that was more exciting! Maybe in New Orleans 40 years ago when I first decided to become a chef. We have been watching Gregory's career since he was at Departures. We are glad to be fans!
