They are only open 9 hour a week in a million dollar house and both times we went the husband was actively trying to discourage people from coming in, even when there are only 2 tables full inside. Clearly the business is a write off for their property. They are very conservative politically so par for the course.

Cozy, unusual, quirky dining experience. We got there early at 5:40 pm and were the first to be sat and served when they open at 6. All food was fantastic, fresh, and flavorful. We tried every entree on the menu and each one was better then the next. We loved the fried rice, crispy tofu app, and spring rolls. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a quick dining experience, there’s only 1 cook in the kitchen!! Great evening.

I've been coming here for 21 years and the food, the ambience and the staff are typical Portland. I'll never forget when I came in 2002 and my boyfriend and I ordered fried tofu. It took 45-60 minutes to come out. We devoured it before our mains. About 45 minutes into waiting for our mains the husband/server came out and told us his wife/cook had to take a break and watch Survivor. Another 30 minutes passed and we got our food. It was delicious. Should they hire an extra person? Beyond yes. But that would totally disrupt the bizarre dining experience and food. As old Portland restaurant institutions keep slipping away it's important to support restaurants like Kuhn Pics, lest they go the way of the dinosaurs.

This is the best Thai food experience I’ve had. The garden is magical; the couple that owns the restaurant are hospitable and provide amazing, kind service and that green curry was *out of this world* good. They’re excellent at what they do. 10/10 recommend!! Get there at 6!!

This restaurant has the most fresh and tasty food BUT it's not your regular Thai restaurant and you need to set your expectations accordingly. This is NOT the restaurant for parties larger than two - in my opinion. It's a husband and wife team - she's cooking fresh, to order and he's the wait staff. You should only order what you can eat and he's advised us before to this extent. It's in a secluded, romantic, Victorian with vintage plates and so forth. Super charming! I feel sad reading the reviews of all the people frustrated with the timing - maybe the couple should consider talking reservations that are staggered to match timing? I say #worththewait. Her sister also has a restaurant with delicious food.

The food here is soo delicious! Easily the bed pad Thai I’ve ever had. The tofu appetizer is really great with an amazing peanut sauce. The couple that runs it are awesome! Make sure to get here early as they are first come first serve and hours are limited. Well worth the wait!

I've walked by Khun pics Bahn Thai many times but never realized it was a restaurant. This place is a hidden gem! The best Thai food I've had since being in Thailand. If you go it does take a while to get your food, as they have a 2 person operation. It's very Portlandia. I will be back.
