I dined at the Kung Fu kitchen for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh, well combined and balanced the taste of egg flower soup was. I ordered the number 3 combo which included fried shrimp, subgum chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken and a small order of pork fried rice. The food was classic American Chinese cuisine, done right. The food was hot and cooked perfectly. I also, enjoyed watching the Chinese cooking channel which made the atmosphere pleasant...
We occasionally have their lunch special deal. It's an incredible value. My favorite is the general tso's chicken. It's hot, sweet and saucy but still crispy. They've really stepped up their game lately as well, because their pork fried rice is so good now. You can taste the wok hei. The service is always fast and friendly. The casual setting and the booths are comfy. St. John's best kept secret!
This has been one of our favorite spots for years. However, today our order was probably the worst Chinese I’ve had. All fried food was absolutely dripping in oil - fried shrimp was overcooked and soggy, and I could squeeze it and oil went everywhere. Rice was scrapped from the bottom of the bin, and burnt. Green beans were overcooked, oily and had little flavor. Will really need to consider if we return.
