Having been born in NM and living in the PNW for the past 40 years, authentic New Mexican food has been on my mind ever since leaving. I happened across La Panza and was not disappointed. Stacked enchiladas with a fried egg and Real sopapillas were so good! Will be back again soon.
Tucked away in a corner by a Plaid Pantry, La Panza Cafe may go missed. It's not the typical, instagrammable, quirky breakfast spot Portland is diluted with. Instead, you'll enter a dimly lit hole in the wall with a beautiful wall mural and extremely friendly staff. The "Blue Corn Piñon Pancakes" I had to try since I've never had anything like them before. They're not as fluffy or thick as regular pancakes but the maize flavor is fantastic. My favorite place around P-town! Havent been back home (Burque) in 13 years and was very happy when I found La Panza Café a couple years ago. I wish it was closer to me as I would definitely be a regular. Hoping things get better and they reopen soon enough.
