Greeted with great service and quick turnaround after ordering, this spot delivers some of the best vapor tacos de cabeza and birria tacos I’ve had in a long time. The flavors instantly brought me back to the streets of Tijuana—authentic, rich, and unforgettable. La Tía Juan is an absolute must if you’re craving vapor tacos. The food is consistent, delicious, and truly finger-licking good. Highly recommend!

The food was good, the girl at the counter however was lowkey rude af. Looked at me weird for asking for a small side of crumbly cheese (cotija or fresco) and told me that they’ve never had it before even though I’ve been given it before several times before when I asked. Every other time I’ve gone here before I’ve never had a rude encounter so it made me a little sad but the food is still as good as always,

I was very skeptical of my friend suggesting this place 25mina drive away. But I’m glad I listened. He knows his tacos. And these were some of the best Al Pastor tacos in Portland. But don’t sleep on the “cabeza” which literally means “head” taking all parts of the meat from the cow head. Usually just means cheek meat, which is some of the best meat on any animal. Also their horchata by the fountain was not too sweet and tastes great. Good salsas too. My friend recommended the tacos and yet he ordered the quesadilla which looked like a giant omelette. They do not skimp on the meat or filling here! Also kinda pricey for tacos, but inflation I guess 🤷🏻♂️

I placed an order of tacos gobernador without steak (since it’s lent and good friday i can’t eat steak today but still wanted gobernador style tacos) and saw my order would be 3 tacos and my understanding was that an order of gobernador style tacos came with 4 tacos. I disregarded that and let the cashier know I wanted no steak only the shrimp in gobernador style tacos. I paid for my 3 tacos cash and got my order to go and went home only to find out I got BAJA STYLE shrimp tacos. I NEVER mentioned baja style tacos and thought it was clear I wanted the gobernador style tacos without steak. I went back and asked for a refund and the cashier asked me for my receipt and claimed she couldn’t find my order and tried to blame me for the mix up. Not sure where she got baja style tacos from. She was so rude and would not own up for her mistake. I ended up getting my refund but I just think she should not have behaved that way with me over her mistake.
