Cute place, but NOT authentic Vietnamese. We were attacked by large fruit flies from the moment we sat down.

STAY AWAY!
I came to Luc Lac recently and while the service was friendly and attentive, the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a major issue. The food itself was just okay, but the INFESTATION OF FLIES made it impossible to enjoy the meal. We spent the entire time waving them away from our plates, and they were constantly landing on the food.
This isn’t just unpleasant, it raises serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety. If there are this many flies in the dining area, I can only imagine what the kitchen must be like. Flies spread bacteria easily, and the possibility of maggots makes it even more alarming.
I truly hope management takes immediate action because if things continue like this, I don’t see how the restaurant could pass a health inspection.

We waited about 10 minutes for our table. At this place you need to order and pay before you are seated. You also need to grab your own water and utensils. Food looked great but tasted mediocre, we noticed some small flies flying around as we were seated close to kitchen and restrooms.

Ordered from Uber Eats, 2 beef pho and an order of chicken wings. The chicken wing portions weren’t enough that was the only downside. I would have liked a little more mushrooms in my pho is all.

If you want a cool trendy Instagram worthy type place and you’re fine with mediocre food here would be great but if you’re looking for good food don’t go here I don’t think I’d come back I was pretty disappointed

Wasteful outdoor seating system. We didn’t know sitting outside would entail everything being put in trash (aka Togo boxes and utensils and little sauce packets). We were expecting a dine in experience and not unintentionally adding to the landfills. The excuse for it was “we don’t have a good system for outdoor plates because of the front doors.” Seems solvable and something to rethink, guess it depends how much the owners care about unnecessarily adding garbage to landfills. 😳😬

Mediocre Vietnamese food that was over priced. Not to mention all the gnats flying around and landing in our food was disgusting. Constantly waving gnats away ruined it…

Worst experience at a restaurant. Fruit flies everywhere and landed in my drink. The staff was kind enough to bring me another one but I had to put a napkin on it. We changed tables but that didn’t help. They were swarming us as we gobbled down our food. Sad part was we were seated inside.

I got the pork banh mi and coconut water ale drink. Loved the banh mi. The perfect level of crisp with a balanced flavor. This is my first time in Portland, and I'm very glad this was my first meal here. The atmosphere was on point. The lady at the cocktail bar was making some amazingly delicious looking drinks.
I recommend this place 10 out of 10 times. The line was long so I recommend you read the menu before going in so you order quickly.

The chicken and pork rice combo was amazing. Lots of flavor and a big portion. I was a bit envious of how good the Luc Lac looked. It was very busy at 9PM. Only complaint is way too many fruit flies, probably because the door is constantly open with people going in and out.
Their food quality has gone downhill and there were little flies around our food all the time - some even landed! Service was just okay. Maybe I am getting old but the music was way too loud but if you like this vibe- go for it.
Their food had been always nice before tonight. We weren’t sure what happened.
