McMenamins Hillsdale Brewery & Public House

Only just discovered this location (new to the neighborhood), so only been a few times so far. Each time we've tried something new and have not been disappointed yet. The food has been made fresh and hot every time. Menu is small but has a good variety. Beers have been great. Service has been wonderful every time. Looking forward to becoming a regular.

We recently visited McMenamins Hillsdale Brewery & Public House with the family, and it was a fantastic experience! We tried the Portland dip and the burger of the month, both super yummy. Plus, we hit the jackpot by getting to do the flight tasting from Brewfest on Saturday. I have to say, the Creme De Coffea Blonde Porter was a standout—absolutely delicious! I also love that it’s a family-friendly spot, making it perfect for a fun outing. We'll be back!

2hr. dining experience due to all the extra time waiting on our server, food only took 25 mins. It was a little busy at first and they had one bartender & server working so maybe someone called out? As a server myself I feel that, but our brunette server had absolutely NO hustle while busy or not… It was over 10 mins to be greeted/get waters, and the place had cleared out at that point there were only ~4 tables. She was nice but spent 20 mins just chatting with one of her 3 tables, went to table #2 (her friends) and spent 10 mins chatting at that one… So when she FINALLY came to cash us out after 30+ mins up boxed up food and 5 people ready to leave, she said ooops sorry kept getting caught up in convo. Girly we knowww😭 Grandma’s an angel but her face was priceless. 😂
I rarely leave bad reviews but it was just WAYY too painful to watch as a server myself, you have to let people know you gotta step out to check on other tables or run food, it is not hard to do so - and the other table were her friends (who she sat down and snacked with after we paid, until we left she was still sitting there and did not say thank you/bye or even come get the card reader) but anyway should’ve been even easier to tell your friends you gotta go do your job and cash out your last table no? It was over 10 mins of everyone being done eating until she checked in so we could ask for a box and water refills too. Maybe she’s new but damn I doubt we’ll be back to this location.

We have eaten here before when we came to Portland to visit. Great burgers here, and I like the gator tots with them! Who doesn't like a good pub burger??

Food and beers are criminally overpriced for mediocre quality. I don't know why people continue to go to any McMenamin establishment, because they just don't care any more. Food quality is similar to fast food (burgers and tots are the worst) and servers will screw up your order more likely than not, while taking twice as long to bring it to you.

I know this sounds harsh, but it is reality. Over the years all McMenamins have gone way down hill. Unless customers start complaining and stating the truth they will continue to charge high prices for bad food.

Jarren made the service memorable and one of my best Mcmenamins experiences. Easy going and fast quips, he had us laughing and enjoying our time. The food was great and the atmosphere was cozy but not over crowded for a Sunday evening. Would 100% come back for a good time.

I stopped in after work to get a snack. I tried going to a different place, but left due to be ignored. I decided to give McMenamins a try. I usually avoid it due to it being busy. Let me tell you Jerron greeted me emediatly and was really funny. I felt welcome and enjoyed his fun personality and excellent service. I will definitely come back to this location!!!!

The beer is good, but the buffalo cauliflower was terrible. I should have sent it back. The waitress was nice and asked if I wanted something else, but I couldn’t wait. Maybe I’ll try something else in the future.
