My husband and I absolutely loved our experience at Murata. If we lived in Portland we would be regulars! The quality is amazing, the price is more than fair and the people who work there are lovely. I will be highly recommending it to anyone who visits Portland as a local gem!

The service was a bit slow. I sat in the chair for more than 30 minutes before someone came to speak to me and arrange my seating at the bar. I ordered from the dinner menu, and while it was good, the fish was much better than the beef. We also ordered some sushi—the portions were small, but the fish was fresh. Crowed environment, a little pricey for the food.

When we asked for a spoon for soup, we were told with disdain that in Japanese culture they don’t use a spoon. Food was mediocre at best, the portion of specialty chirashi is very small, not worth the $80. In NYC you can get a much better chirashi with more fish variety and size. At the end we were charged for 20% tips without option.

Came here for our anniversary tonight and all I can say is WOW. The quality of the fish was absolutely wonderful. We sat at the bar and couldn’t have had a better experience. The blue fin extra fatty tuna was phenomenal. The service was excellent with all of the staff being very attentive. Again the fish!!! So fresh and so clean clean 💥

This place was delicious. I got the Sushi lunch A. It came with 8 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of the rol of the day. The fish was so fresh and delicious. One of the nigiri has like on it. Loved it. Also, I'm not a big fan of miso soup, but this was seriously the best miso I've had. Would definitely go back. It's a small spot but was able to eat at the sushi bar, worth the wait. Staff was nice.
Some friends took my wife and me here for lunch and we had such a great time. Nice atmosphere for catching up and enjoying some amazing sushi.

We had lunch for two, both taking a $28 combo of a succulent, large steak, three sushi, three pieces of a roll and miso soup. We loved it! Parking at nearby garage is validated. Excellent value. What could be better? Service was a bit scattered, and servers appeared overwhelmed. Side salad featured a tasteless tomato and similarly tasteless iceberg lettuce.

Highly recommend for an authentic japanese feel and fresh fish.
It doesn’t have capacity for big groups. Servers are too proud and rude of their so called dining rules and ignore cleanliness of their culture. Dishes and bowls are dirty with unknown powder. They didn’t feel sorry for small flies and incests in your meal. Fried meats are dry. Steak is dry. Sashimi is average standard. A bit highlight is their sauces but it doesn’t worth the listed price at all.

Don’t bother with this place. We walked from our hotel, only to find a sign stating reservations only, no walk-in’s. They did nothing to accommodate us. We were dead to them, so they are dead to me. The place looks like a high school cafeteria. Nothing special.
