The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The interior was cute with lots of art and plants. A few of the tables in the back room could use more lighting. All in all a great night out and would definitely go again.

I discovered Obon S back in December and have been coming regularly since. I'm not a vegan, but I don't believe you need to be to enjoy vegan cuisine. Part of my intuitive diet is meatless and without any animal product. Whether you just want to enjoy good food or you're looking for a change in how you eat, this is a great spot to do so. I love their creative dishes, which are flavorful, and some have the spice that I desire. My favorite and recommended dishes are the kakiage (so yummy), the kinzanji miso glazed tofu (the golden Cayenne option has a nice amount of spice), the giant tots, udon salad, and side salad. You can add a side salad to meals for 3 bucks. Love that. My single complaint is that there have been at least 3 times where I've had the absolute minimal amount of sesame dressing, to the point I was just tasting lettuce. The sesame dressing is delicious, and you get more dining in versus ordering to-go. The service is great. Everyone is friendly and personable. For me, the location is prime because it's close by enough to walk. Parking is largely street parking. Highly recommend it!

The service was good and the restaurant was pretty quiet when we went. However, the food itself wasn't a good fit for my taste buds, I found it to be way too salty.

A Vegan Japanese Restaurant in PDX?... I was curious and had to go. So I grabbed a friend and off we went on another foodie adventure. The restaurant is located on the east side of the river downtown. Parking wasn't too bad at lunchtime, but I have been in that area during peak times where it could be a problem. I found a spot right in front of the place but left that for my friend. I parked right around the block in a nice 2-hour zoned spot.My friend was a shop teacher and he loved the decor. He was commenting on the materials the tables and seats were made of and how to make them. He loved the design, and I had to agree. It was pretty cool.We were quickly seated and shown the menu on the QR code. All the food ordering and payment are done on the online app. Once you put everything in, the food is rung up based on your table QR # and brought over.Being a vegan restaurant, we had to try the Karaage and katsu. Instead of chicken, they used tofu. The Karaage was tasty and had a similar texture to pressed chicken nuggets. The curry was tasty, too, and the katsu was again more of the pressed tofu chicken substitute. In the future, I would skip the katsu dish and order just the curry and another order of the Karaage. Their food is more izakaya comfort, so I'll definitely have to go back to try their udon... being a vegan udon, I'm curious to how they can mimic the flavors of the traditional dish.Anyway, if you are vegan/vegetarian and want something other than japanese sushi type food, I would recommend checking out Obon Shokudo.

my favourite is the amazake flight. it’s a nice vegan option, buy dishes are hit or miss—can be subtle on flavour.

We met up with some friends for dinner to try this all plant based Asian food. The service was very good and they were very helpful suggesting some of the most popular meals. We ordered the tempura udon noodle bowl and it was delicious. We also tried one of the combination plates so that we could try a few of the different options. All were very good and we would definitely go back to try other options.

I'm very grateful for how it's becoming so easy to find all-vegan restaurants, but I've never seen Japanese! It was so so good ?? I wish I had one in my neighborhood in SF ?
