I arrived in Portland on Valentine’s Day with no reservations or plans. Palomar’s bartenders ended being the new lives of my life. Along with the food. It was incredible. Do not skip on the tuna tostada. Just order it while reading this review.

There’s a mandatory 20% service charge even though there were only four of us. The waitress repeatedly interrupted our conversation with unnecessary check-ins. After we paid, we stayed a bit longer to chat, but no water was offered once the mandatory tip was already applied. Overall, the food was disappointing as well. Would not recommend.
Updated my rating from two stars to one star after being lectured by the owner in their defensive reply that it’s all my fault. 🤷

Indifferent & idiotic service. An empty restaurant during peak hours on Saturday night. We ordered an appetizer & drink while we read the limited menu, but were told they would only accept our entire food order all at once. We finished the drink and left. I doubt Palomar will stay open.

Great food, great staff, and the cocktails are above and beyond! Only loses a star because nowhere do they tell you they charge 20% gratuity on the bill, then ask for more. I'm not cheap and most always tip 20% but it was a surprise.
I've been here a few times, and the food always comes out quickly, with consistently good service. The atmosphere is fun, and the food quality has been reliably good. However, the seafood platter feels a bit overpriced for what you get...UPDATE....We visited the newer NW location and had a completely different experience. The drinks were poorly balanced, even though the server assured us they were well made. The food was mediocre at best, our overpriced ceviche had barely any fish. It’s been months since that visit, and my husband still brings up how disappointing it was given we spent over $160 for the two of us.

Food was pretty good but was disappointed to not see more authentic Cuban food. Service was fine, nothing to write home about, but not bad, it was a busy night though so I know how that can be. Atmosphere was strange, it was extremely dark and fairly loud, not horrible but again it wasn't great. All in all, probably will not return due to the cost and overall enjoyment but maybe on a different night when it's not so busy and during the day so it's not so dark. Literally had someone at our table pull out the flashlight on their phone because they couldn't read the menu.

Every dish was packed with bold well balanced flavor and clearly made with care. The staff was incredibly kind welcoming and attentive which made the whole experience even better. I will absolutely be back.

Thoroughly disappointed as far as food and beverage. The dish described (lechon) as not a crispy style but braised and assured that it would fall apart. That sold me on the dish. However, what I was served was half ass. The pork was cheated. It didn't fall apart it was cut apart. I was chewing on that stuff. I shouldn't have to with the way of the server described it. (I paid for that.) Then, the amount of fillers that were on the plate as far as the escoviche and the pickled onions. If I wanted half a plate of pickled vegetables I would order it. It's cheap and it's a way to fill the plate. You guys should have thought about putting some frijoles to fill a space and make it awesome. I was not impressed at all and our bill came out to almost $200 and cost point of about 50 bucks.
Shake my head.
F is garbo for the prices. Charassco tasted like nothing. No chips or bread served with cowboy caviar. Super bland all around. G&T might as well have been a well drink.
Snooze. Will not be back.
