The cheesesteak was FIRE! I loved the sesame seed roll, and the cheese sauce was killer. Ate too quick to take a picture.

Didn’t even get to try the “amazing food” because the people working there just flat out ignored my dasher after 1.5h after the order was placed. He waited there for a half hour.

A brief passing glimpse of a “Jawns” sign glowing in the night led us to this joint. We ordered the moment they opened the next day. My husband is from Philly and we lived there for years. We have tried pretty much every “touted” cheesesteak in Portland with varying levels of disappointment. Until now. THIS IS IT. Just bread, onion, meat, and cheese in some age-old, who-knows-what, you-know-it-when-you-taste-it alchemy of flavor that IS a Philly cheesesteak. Thank you thank you thank you. We’ll be back!

Their Philly cheesesteak probably saved my life last night. Might need to get saved again tonight.

I’ve been such a fan of Papi Sals, or John’s Jawns since they first opened-and the quality of the food has only become more mouth watering and the smiles from the folks behind the counter have only gotten bigger!Jess and John are crushing it and if you’re not smashing hoagies from this spot, you’re missing out.

I cannot believe I was lucky enough to stumble across this absolute gem while I was searching for some food on my drive home. As soon as I saw the reviews, I knew I had to give it a try. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with a side of fries. The fries were decent, but the cheesesteak absolutely blew me away. The beef was finely chopped and I loved how perfectly incorporated the cheese and onions were. The seasoning was spot on as well. To top it off, although the filling was somewhat moist, the bread managed to stay perfectly soft and crispy. I'm not exactly sure what an authentic Philly cheesesteak tastes like, but I'm willing to bet it's a lot like this one. It hasn't even been a week, and I've already told 10+ people around Papi Sal's because it's just that good. They even have several vegan options, so I was able to tell my vegan/vegetarian friends as well. The one downside was that it was a bit difficult to find. It's located inside of a bar with a walk up window around the corner. Definitely worth the extra minute or two it took to hunt it down.

Man... Roast Pork is one of my favorite sandwiches from back home. Got one from Papi Sals tonight, FINALLY. Unfortunately, they didn't have Broccoli Rabe. That somehow didn't matter because the sandwich was absolutely delicious the way it was. Now I gotta go back and get one proper. This would honestly be a good Roast Pork back home. Homies in Philly should be jealous that I get to eat Papi Sals

I got the Tender Jawn. It was ok. The chicken was fine but could have been juicier and crunchier. The bread was fine but could have been fresher, warmer and toasted. The provolone cheese I really liked; it had a nice creaminess and tangyness to it. I was disappointed by the size of the sandwich. It was definitely on the small size. I was hungry after eating it along with one Pizza Empanadilla. The Pizza Empanadilla wasn't great either. It was sorta like those Totino's pizza rolls, but not as good. There was very little filling and not much flavor. It also took over a half hour to get my food. I have a feeling they had forgotten about it since when I went up to check on it, it only took them a few minutes after that to have my food ready. There was no apology for the wait or admission of "sorry, we lost/mixed up your order" though.

Experienced White Owl Social last night. Loved the staff, atmosphere and service. Very friendly, clean environment. Then I met the chef/owner. I ordered a TENDER JAWN which includes:house made chicken tenders, long hots, sharp prov, mayo-ketchup, sofrito, cilantro. I was asked if I wanted it "spicy" and I said no. I was served the pork version. Staff was quick and friendly to correct the mistake. Only to be served with the Spicy Chicken. I tried it and my friend and we both agreed it was WAY to spicy. I again brought it to the the staff's attention, which "they" tried to fix. Soon the chef/owner approached our table with the basket and said the sandwich was fine and no spice was added. I asked him to taste it, which he would not. He response "we can't keep making you sandwiches because we are running out of bread, we can make you something fried, and that everyone had a spectrum of what they thought spicy was". I told him I wasn't and couldn't be eating it. He rolled his eyes and walked back into the kitchen complaining to several people about it on his way back into the kitchen. He did take it off my bill and gave me two drink tickets. Sir if you dont know how to deal with customers, professionally and the critique. Stay in the kitchen and let your staff deal with the issue.

Definitely something refreshing for the taste buds ( and Portland ) when the regular burger or lo mein doesn't hit! The Tender Jawn is the personal fav. Friendly, passionate owners and delicious food make this spot a must go if you PDX!

Prior to the pandemic I use to come to the WOSC all the time. This was my first time back since and it is so cute inside. You do have to go to the bar to order your food and drinks. The bartender was extremely nice. We got wine and beer which was good. This is a great place for groups. You can push some tables together. I also noticed that they have a pool table now. We also enjoyed the nachos and Cesar salad. The nachos are interesting... instead of chips they use plantains. The Cesar salad was small. It looks like there a many patio tables. So, I'll definitely check it out again when it's warmer outside.

I thought I reviewed this before but I guess not. When I first started to come here for Euchre games, I liked it. Good drinks and tacos, big outdoors, etc.... But over time I disliked them more and more. They charge for soda water, and they don't have guacamole. The management of the place isn't very good I feel. I noticed that they recently changed their menu too. How sad. So I'm thankful I won't be going here anymore for cards. I feel like they really need to make some changes in the right direction and not the wrong direction.

Great food cart! We stopped by after a long day and the service and food was quick & fantastic. We'd never been before, but I definitely will be going back before the end of the year! Highly recommend :)
