Was excited to try this for the first time. Got to the place at 4:30 on Thursday 1/2, waited outside in the cold for 20 minutes. Someone opens the door at 4:50 and says they're closed until next week. No sign on the door, no notes on their website. Very poorly organized.

Waited outside for 30 mins in the rain just to be told they were closed. If you're active on instagram, posting even on the day you're closed, please let people know... it's not considerate

Pastificio has been on my list for 2 years. It exceeded expectations in almost every way. I never imagined counter service could be combined with fine dining, but now I've seen exactly how it can be done. Big ups for the exceptionally balanced salad, attentive staff, and masterfully crafted pasta. Extra special call out for their tipless, living wage pricing. In an age when restaurants are piling on fees and suggesting tips of 30% or more, Pastificio has figured out how to make it all work a lot easier.

Pasta, wine, delicious fresh greens, cozy atmosphere. All of the people working were very warm and friendly, which kept the slightly strange “order at the counter” method from being a deterrent and it makes sense since they have a small staff. They were attentive and kind and I had a lovely evening.

This place is a hidden gem. The food was delicious and the owners were such a delight. I wish I had pictures to share but I was hungry and devoured everything. The salad, gnocchi, and pickles were orgasmic.

Thoughtful and quality dishes and service!

Closest dishes to what I grew up with in an Italian household with a chef father.

This was one of best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was impressive and the food was absolutely amazing. Stopped by for dinner yesterday with a few friends. Ordered a bottle of Barbera wine to pair with our meal. Excellent red wine that was a nice and light. This place is intimate casual dining atmosphere. Maggie’s salad is special. We ended up ordering everything and shared. Dessert was so delicious. This place is a real gem and I was blown away by the amazing food. Outstanding quality and creativity. I highly recommend this restaurant. So amazing!

This is truly a special place. Tonight was a second trip in a month because I have literally been dreaming of the malfatti. The menu is a perfect example of showcasing what they do extremely well. Small enough where you can order one of everything, and you’ll want to do exactly that as every dish is truly wonderful. The service is also incredible. The owner is the perfect example of what true hospitality looks like. She graciously approaches and speaks to each customer as though she’s known them her whole life. Go, go, GO and try Pastificio!

The best no frills pasta in the city. I love the casual, intimate dining experience - and the handmade pasta is 10/10. I’d sell my soul for the recipe to Maggie’s salad, this is a must for every day meals and special occasions.

Get there early before they run out of the food! We arrived at 7pm on a weeknight to most of the menu being sold out (then officially sold out about 30m later). While the food and service were above average, I did find the garlic to be a bit overwhelming in almost everything we ordered. I’ll definitely be back to try the other dishes though. Highly recommend.

12/10 everything!!! Maggie and Chase are the most genuine people ever. It feels like eating at your grandma’s house in the possible best way. All the homemade pasta is to die for and don't even get me started on Maggies salad dressing. Must visit!!!!!

My new favorite spot. The food is to die for. The salad is so tasty - the dressing packs a kick with garlic and softened with honey. The bread is so fresh and soft, yet with a crunchy shell. The pasta! Ugh so glad we got both and split. The tiramisu was almost drinkable. The fact that it’s a family-owned business makes it that much better. Staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and eclectic.

I squeezed in just before they sold out. Got a tagliatelle Ragu and Maggie’s salad. Some of—if not the—best Italian food in Portland. Get here as close to open as possible. It’s worth it! Nice and helpful staff, too.
