Honestly, the food wasn’t that good. You guys should not come here you’re better off going to another Italian place. For the money it’s not worth it. I’m sorry. I am trying to be nice but it really was not good. You can go and get other pasta at other places and it will still taste better. I think a lot of people hype this place up because of the owners but honestly it’s really not that good. And spending almost $30 for a dish is not worth it.

Such a cute place run by the sweetest people. Perfect Portland atmosphere. They open at 5 pm and there was already a line of people at 4:45 waiting to get in. Since the menu is small (changes every week) so they can whip out orders quickly. High quality, delicious food. Indoor and outdoor seating. It was worth the 40 minute drive we took to get here!

Absolutely delicious!! The salad with mint was amazing. The gnocchi in duck ragu was the best I’ve ever had. This place is cute, cozy and intimate, feels like home.

I want to start off by saying the food was really good but I was underwhelmed with everything else. The inside was tiny and the stools you sit on were short and uncomfortable. it’s counter service, you have to serve yourself water, grab your own plates, silverware and napkins all yourself. but somehow they still give you an option to tip starting at 25%. umm? for what? then the napkins were the kind they use for public restrooms. i read the owner replied saying that a napkin is just that and that they aren’t fine dining. fair. but why am i paying $25 for a small plate of pasta and $12 for a glass a wine on top of tip and using a napkin that reminds me when i wash my hands at a stinky public restroom? these restaurants charge the prices of a full service restaurant without the service. there’s no point of real servers anymore, running around serving guests all while the girl at pastaficio just flips a screen and says “it’s gonna ask you a quick question”

TLDR: Get here early, groups of 2-4 is perfect, food is ridiculously good, service is fantastic.Normally I don’t write reviews but this place was truly special and felt deserved one. We came as a group of 6 not knowing how intimate the seating situation was. Most tables were two or four tops so initially we had considered just taking it to go. The staff was so kind to reorganize their seating situation to get us to all sit together inside.Quick note about the wait, we showed up about 15 minutes early and waited about 30 minutes after open to get in and sit down with our wine. Now I’m not sure why some people are complaining about having to wait for hand crafted incredible food made with seasonal local ingredients, but it’s 2024 guys. Waiting for good food is to be expected these days especially when seating is limited. I very highly recommend you get there early because they do sell out of their entrees because that’s what happens when food is good. It sells out.Anyways, I can get into the food but it’s a rotating menu depending on what’s in season and available locally. We got the gnocchi, parpadelle, Maggie’s salad, and bread. All of it was incredible. All of it. So full of flavor, and handled with care. Maggie’s wine pairings went perfectly with our meals as well and had to hold off on getting more bottles. Salad dressing was so insane that a couple of us bought extra to take home.100% will be returning again soon to try their new menu with friends and is definitely on our list of places to take friends or people visiting for top tier Italian.

Authentic experience as if you are in a friends home in Italy. We had exquisite beef tartare and the best risotto I’ve ever had. We understand and appreciate this is not a mass production restaurant, but a unique opportunity to enjoy really well made dishes that they can run out of. They should run out of it too! It’s amazing! I wish there were more restaurants like this.

They work their tails off to make a certain amount of amazing food each night and when it’s gone it’s gone. Short of cloning the owners, that’s just the way it is. Get there early and enjoy the most intimate and tasty experience you can

My favorite restaurant in Portland!!!! The best owners, such kind and amazing people who just want to give the St. John’s community good eats! Maggie’s salad is to DIE FOR and Chase couldn’t make bad pasta if he tried. Definitely a 100/10 it never misses!
