Perfect place to eat before the theater. The staff and service was great. The food and drinks were delicious. We were able to valet our car with the Marriott and pick it up after the show. The fee was reasonable and worth not getting stuck in the traffic around the Keller. Highly recommended!
rank and Shay were absolutely incredible! We stopped in for dinner before a show at the Keller, and the entire experience blew us away. The staff was outstanding — so warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and the food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was prepared to perfection, and our whole group left happy and excited for the musical. This place is truly a hidden gem, and we can't wait to come back!
Need a total revamp of the menu and the decor. It's not a happy place. The staff try their best though. The organic orange juice was undrinkable. The toast was drowned in butter. The fruit bowl was good on 1 occasion and the very next day inedible.
The restaurant was most accomodating of our group of 7. The food was delicious and the staff attentive. This was our 2nd time to visit and quality meal and sevice. Atmosphere is good and I liked their music choice too!
Not a bad spot to grab dinner. Pricing was a little higher than expecting but they had a good beer/wine selection. Got the mushroom flatbread which was very tasty. The group i was with had salmon and the grain bowl which they did not recommend. I was happy with my flatbread choice!

Dined in on the 24th of September. The burger I ordered was perfect, in every sense of the word. The vegetables were properly proportioned; you can even taste the lettuce was washed! The burger was well done and it still had moisture...it was PERFECT! SKIP THE BIDWELL! SKIP THE BEAST-RO AT THE VANCE! No where else in Portland can you get a better burger. HUGE KUDOS TO THE BURGER CHEF!!!

I would like to give it 2.5 stars but can’t so I’m giving 3 stars (feeling generous). First off, the cocktails are very good. The whiskey they use is great quality and so their cocktails are actually pretty good.
But… the food is atrocious! We had the chicken wings and seasonal veggies with rice and lentils. The chicken wings were okay… sweet and slightly bland. For the veggie dish, it’s like they took veggies and steamed them and added to cooked rice. No flavor. It lacked salt too!
The service was as bad as the food. We were ignored the whole time. Two tables that arrived after us were served before us. We had to wave down one of the servers (twice) to get their attention before we were helped. It took us three attempts to get the servers attention to get us salt (for the bland veggie dish) to the table
Go for the cocktails, skip the food and sit at the bar.

6 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ stars for our waiter FRANK
During our recent work trip to Portland, my coworker and I had the pleasure of dining at Proof•Reader Whiskey + Craft + Kitchen, located in the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. We were fortunate to have Frank as our server for two consecutive nights, and we were so impressed with his exceptional service that we felt compelled to write this review.
From the moment we were seated, Frank welcomed us with a warm and friendly demeanor. His personable nature immediately made us feel at home, and his genuine interest in ensuring we had a great dining experience was evident throughout our visits.
What truly stood out was Frank's expertise and passion for the menu. He made excellent recommendations both nights, guiding us through the whiskey selections and the diverse food options. Each suggestion was spot-on, enhancing our dining experience and allowing us to try dishes we might not have chosen on our own.
Frank's attentiveness was impeccable—our glasses were never empty, and he checked in with us just the right amount to ensure everything was to our satisfaction without being intrusive. It’s clear that he takes great pride in his work and in providing top-notch service to his guests.
Our positive experiences at Proof•Reader Whiskey + Craft + Kitchen were largely due to Frank's exceptional service. He is the reason we returned for a second night, and he significantly contributed to the enjoyment of our work trip. We highly recommend asking for Frank if you’re dining at Proof•Reader. You won’t be disappointed!
Thank you, Frank, for making our visit memorable. We look forward to dining here again on future trips to Portland.

If you go, ask to sit in Frank's section. He is literally the best. Attentive, kind, above and beyond, courteous, and so fun! He is knowledgeable and made the best suggestions based on our taste we mentioned.
He's so cheerful and friendly. We're on a business trip and we came back a second time just because he left such a great impression.

This was perhaps the first restaurant I truly just walked out on. While our appetizer and drinks were decent, the service was slow, the waiter was more concerned with gabbing with the hostess. The entrees were, frankly, revolting. The meat was grey and slimy, it clearly had been microwaved or not cooked in a pan or grill. Would not recommend ever going back, the waiter was embarrassed to have served the food, it was clear when I called them out on the preparation method. He offered a discount on the dinner but did not comp any of the meal. Giant disappointment.
Great restaurant for after theater. The menu was varied enough that we had a choice of smaller bites to full-size dinner. We had great service even thought they were super busy! Will definitely go there again.
We only had appetizers and dessert which were both good. Expected more from the cocktails considering they are a whiskey focused business.

It's a nice bar in a hotel, so people are mingling about. Food was not great, had the steak. Husband enjoyed his whiskey, I don't drink whiskey.

My family and I went before seeing a play at the Keller. We had a great table in the middle so we were able to do some really good people watching. Frank was our server and he was amazing. Super friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed all of our meals and shared the flourless chocolate cake that was sublime. Will for sure be back!
