This place absolutely slaps. It's tempting to recommend the ribs or brisket because they are fantastic, but don't neglect the deviled eggs or hushpuppies. If you're gonna kill your heart, do it here in style.

Nice wholesome atmosphere. And probably the best barbecue that I've ever had. I would totally recommend the meal for 4.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL THE GENERAL MANAGER AND MANAGER HERE ARE ABUSIVE.The people (general manager and manager) who run this place are ABUSIVE and have absolutely disgusting character. I have much worse to say about them, but I want the focus to be on warning others more than the shock-value of insults. They HARASSED and THREATENED my Autistic partner, who does food deliveries and informed them that they were going against policy with drasticaly missinforming them about the food times. And that they had to notify their delivery company of it otherwise them as the deliverer will get into trouble. The general manager then got in their face, and both him and the manager started mocking my partner, making faces, voices, and physically threatening them!!!!!!My partner is an absolute sweetheart, and I just can't imagine the type of people that would do this to them, and I don't want this to happen to anyone else who ends up interacting with them. No one deserves the treatment they put my partner through. If these people don't get fired, please boycott this company and any of their affiliated restaurants until they do.

Man, kind of a bummer that the service has gotten so bad. It’s the second time in a row that I’ve come here to meet friends and the hostess and server seemed to take zero pride in their job and were not the least bit welcoming. I’ve had birthdays here over the years and often use Reverends for a meetup spot with friends and always enjoyed the food but I might have to find a new spot. Will no longer recommend to friends.

Great sides, terrible brisket, worse service. Coming from Texas I wanted to try the brisket, waitress shamed me for wanting to split the check which only seemed fair since my companion was vegetarian. Waitress made sure to make it a point that she did not like splitting checks “again” when dropping the check.

100% legit. I used to be a regular before moving out of Portland. Now I need to swing by every time I visit. The BBQ plates are superb, but the real action is on the sandwich menu where the good reverend burger and the fried chicken sando are among my favorite things to eat of all time. The tap list is short but well curated, there are cider, wine and liquor options if that is your game and usually 2 frozen cocktails spinning. Staff stick around for a long time and are polite, knowledgeable and attentive as well as friendly.

One of the only places you can get a deviled egg and oh boy do they ever provide it. Hands down my favorite place for bbq and dont get me started on their first rate world class hushpuppies. The menu is worth a taste of everything they have to offer.

I had an appetite after a long run that ended in the riverfront park, and decided to walk over to Reverend for a late lunch. I splurged on the brisket with an extra piece of chicken - and it was very worth it. The brisket was moist with a mild smoke, and the chicken added a nice crunch factor. I can definitely see myself ending runs here again ?

BBQ beans among the best I’ve had anywhere ever (and I know bbq beans). Banana pudding for dessert was good but was a little disappointed in the portion for the price. Friend got pecan pie which seemed like a larger portion but still skimpy for the price. He also got the brisket which he liked.
