Every time I go down to Portland, I MUST stop by Saburos! However, I always forget how massive the hand rolls are, but I still have a great experience chowing down the meal. Leftovers? Always. Thank you for existing 💖 The staff are incredibly nice. Sometimes, the waitlist can get pretty long, but the wait goes by fast.

To say the portions of raw fish to sushi rice is excessive would be an understatement. The portions of a single sushi roll are the equivalent of 3 sushi rolls worth of raw fish and sushi rice to a point where no sushi on the menu is a one bite not even the sashimi. The seaweed used was stale and ripped more like rope than seaweed. One would think that having steak sized portions of raw yellow tail and smoked salmons would be heavenly but the old adage of too much of a good thing truly can apply to this menu. Oh also our drink orders never arrived.

Great quality and taste! Waited about 40min in a weekend. Salmon belly, aburi salmon, unagi are some of the favorites! The price is getting higher though..

Saburo’s is hands down my favorite sushi spot — I’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints! The sushi is always incredibly fresh, the portions are huge, and the quality is consistently amazing. You really get great value for what you pay. Whether I’m craving classic rolls or sashimi, everything is top-notch. It’s one of those rare gems that keeps you coming back. Easily the best sushi in town!

This is great sushi place either you eat there or to go. They open to go order starting at 2 pm. If you eat there, make sure come early especially on the weekend, line can be long over an hour or so. Looks like they reduced the size of yhe sushi, still big compared to sushi belt, but it used to be bigger. The sear salmon is a must, they also has real crab sushi.

Don't order take-out here. After picking up the food and getting back to my house, I opened the bag only to discover it was a completely wrong order. Had to drive back and find out they seemingly gave my order to someone else already. Keep in mind when I picked up the food, it was late afternoon and not busy, as only 2 tables were occupied, so I can't even pass it off as them getting overwhelmed with customers. They eventually got me the food, didn't offer anything extra for my time wasted, merely an apology and sent me my way. Food is alright and does have quantity for the price, but overhyped.

This is the best reasonably priced sushi in portland

I badly want to gatekeep this place. Go there. You will not be disappointed. Portions are huge so bring a group, but you may expect to wait for a seat!

I used to come here back in 2011-2013 and recently revisited in 2025 - surprisingly, not much has changed in 12 years. The service is still the same, not great, but manageable.. The wait line system and ordering process are still the same, and the portion sizes remain generous. However, the prices have increased quite a bit, likely in line with inflation.
Despite all that, I’d still return for the food, the rolls and sushi pieces are massive and delicious.
Just a heads-up: parking is limited, so be ready to flex your street-parking skills.
