Delicious ice cream (although I wish there were more gluten free options!). The single split scoop is kind of big (which most would think is a good thing I'm sure!). I might rather pay for an actual normal scoop size (split flavor) and pay a little less for a smaller portion (I know that seems crazy to say but sometimes I just want an actual single scoop!).

Salt & Straw is always bringing new, interesting, delicious ice cream. This is my favorite ice cream, and the staff have always been kind, chill, helpful.Dietary restrictions: They always have dairy free, gluten free, vegan options that are clearly labeled.

I feel like the food critic from the movie Ratatouille. never in a million years would I have thought that the flavors that exist here should belong in ice cream. However, I happened upon this ice cream shop and saw a line so I figured I would try it while in town. The ice cream is extraordinary. The quality and care is evident with just a sample. It is among the best ice cream I have anywhere in the world, and that is a very, very long list of places. It has completely made me rethink what I thought I knew about flavor. I imagine that I will return here every single time I visit Portland.

Hands down the best ice cream in the country! It was real treat literally to go to the OG Salt & Straw. Yes, given that rep the line was a little long around 4pm on a Saturday but it did move quickly. Also, their freshly made cones are the best! That's coming from a guy who normally eats from the cup

I used to prefer the traditional flavors of ice cream but now that my palate has expanded I enjoy salted ice creams and other flavors. The potato salad flavor reminded me of like Wendy’s fries and a frosty. I enjoyed passion fruit flavor and salted caramel.

I'm so happy to have researched a bit before hand the places that I wanted to check out and this ice cream place was highly talked about. There is only one place back in Minnesota that I can think of that is unique in flavor like this spot but not to this level. First of all you walk in and smells so good! The waffle cones smell so sweet and vanilla e ( not a word) but you get me. The had combos like strawberries with balsamic glaze, blue cheese, and other amazing ones. I went with a honey lavender and wow was that combo very beautiful. My partner got one that had a peanut butter chocolate combo I believe. I'm not huge on peanut butter but he said it was the best he's had. We also learned that parking in the area can be tricky but you are better off maybe parking a couple blocks away and then walking over as you get to see all the awesome restaurants in the area. I so wished they did shipping to order some ice cream back at home.

There was only one person on front of me so they were not busy and yet for some reason the two people working there could not provide customer service. I asked for a specific flavor of ice cream that wasn't in the cooler in a pint and one person seemed to not understand what I was asking for. I asked again if she had the pint and she finally understood and said it that it must be sold out. She offered me a double scoop which is similar in size and I said yes. I went to check out, while I waited for my ice cream and the girl disappeared in the back. I thought she was going to double check if they had more prepacked pints I the back. When she came out and started cleaning, I was confused why she wasn't getting the ice cream. The girl checking out was confused why I was trying to pay when I had no ice cream so I explained to her I was waiting for my double scoop. She went to ask the girl where my ice cream was and they both were super confused, as was I. I regret I did not just walk out. But the ice cream was for someone else who was waiting for it. I finally got it, with no apology or explanation and no smile, no thank you for your patience. Just blank looks like they didn't know what they were doing at an ice cream shop. It was shortly after noon on a cloudy day. No lines, and not long after opening so no excuse they were tired. Very strange. I think I'll hit up Nicos next time.
