****Went here last week with my family that had been customers for over 20 years and they forgot part of my aunts meal and wouldn’t comp it for the inconvenience and the neglect on their kitchen and wait staff as the problem wasn’t recognized/rectified by them. We brought it to their attention and requested a manager to comp the meal and no one ever came to address the issue and when we got the bill and the meal wasn’t comped my aunt went to speak to the manager and she was very rude, unprofessional and was lying that they addressed the issue immediately. And then she said that we’d have to wait until the owner was able in a few days to have them deal with it! Also they didn’t have adequate space for wheelchairs as two customers us included had to ask other customers to get up so that they could pass, very inappropriate/embarrassing( and no staff assisted in this) And when we call the owner he was just as rude and nasty as his manager and said “don’t ever come back to my restaurant!”

Food was great but these idiots want to say my ID picture don't look real and that it's too dark smh like dude it's a real ID from the DMV and I'm above 21 and they still didn't serve me my drink. The manager was very hostile and aggressive when I called and complained. There is no excuse for this type of behavior in a restaurant towards customers I will not be eating here again. Thing is that everyone else takes my ID no questions asked so I don't know what the deal is but y'all need to do better and for sure need to tell y'all manager to tone it down and not be so aggressive and mean to people

We went there to celebrate my sibling's birthday.
The orders are either steaks or seafood for party of 5.
It was unfortunate but the steak was very hard, chewy and grizzly. The birthday person can't even finish his 24 oz because over half of them were grizzly and chewy.
The nicest thing we can say about the steak was that at least they get 'medium rare' correctly, otherwise, the quality was very poor.
The side dishes were fine. Bread warm, plenty of butter, decent salad, good soup (it's pea soup).
The onion rings that I heard praised so highly were also a disappointment. So much oil, it's doused in it. My homemade onion ring is about the same quality with much less oil since I air-fried.
Otherwise, service quality was fine. We had an attentive server. Atmosphere was also ok. The ones who ordered seafood was fine with their order (it's not like it's anything special but at least, it was edible). But for a steakhouse this was such a disappointment. Will not be returning.

Loved this place! We had a fantastic time, food was delicious, the waitress was really kind, and the atmosphere was nice. We really enjoyed having dinner here. My steak was delicious, and we enjoyed the onion rings. It's a must when visiting this place! I ordered a Lavender Lemonade, this was delicious as well, refreshing.

Always an excellent place for steak and potatoes. We've been going here for years, never disappointed.

Seeing the large Christmas bouquet at the hostess desk when we entered—on June 1st—told me everything I needed to know about my recent visit.

Sayler’s, I love you. I have loved you for a long time, and that’s why I’m going to tell it like it is. It appears that nobody is paying attention to the details at your restaurant anymore. We were greeted immediately by hostesses who looked like they had just rolled out of bed. Our very nice but untidy waitress was wearing dirty clothes. The wine list was tattered. The menu was dirty. My wine glass had a fingerprint on it. The crudité vegetables were dried out. The batter on the onion rings was mostly gone. If my New York steak was medium-rare, I’d hate to see rare. 🐮🩸 Although the flavor of the steak was wonderful, it was not seared properly, and the fat was not rendered. I had globs of lukewarm fat on my plate. The plate wasn’t sizzling. That has never happened before. The busboy was wearing AirPods.

Sayler’s, I need you to care about the details in a way that matches your newly extensive dessert choices. I would far rather go back to the days of three ice cream flavors if it meant someone gave a damn.

This was our first time going to this restaurant for dinner... and I have to say this place is amazing, the food, service, atmosphere was perfect.. the family oriented atmosphere was perfect makes ypu feel right at home everyone was so happy and enjoying themselves kids and all.. the service was absolutely amazing and she was so attentive to our needs and punctual.. once the food arrived our table was in heaven it was amazing worth dieing for steaks, the relish trays were omg good with the bread.. and they serve icecream after every meal and omg it is the best icecream ever. This is by far a favorite restaurant and added to the top of our go to lists we will be back often. Thank you Saylors.

I think that any steak lover who visits Portland should get over to this place because it's very popular with the locals. It's big. They are generous in their portions and in their drinks and it has a nice atmosphere. So it's been around since 1957 I believe, When you see all the locals coming into a place, families and so on, you know you've hit a good spot. They offer very large portions of steak but I really enjoyed my senior 4 oz sirloin tenderloin. I think people keep coming back because they offer a lot for the amount of money. Lastly, desserts are simple, just a couple of choices and that's fine.

The food was not good except for the shrimp. My steak was cooked well done when I had ordered it medium they use margarine. I had to request butter for my baked potato. I really wanted mashed potatoes, but the margarine was already mixed in the server was the best very attentive and very kind, but the food was not good. The onion rings were not crispy and they were drenched in rancid oil. I came to sailors about 20 years ago and I remember it was great. I feel like I wasted my hard earned money but I will not return.
