I went two mornings back-to-back and had two of the best vanilla lattes of my life. Also, the employee both mornings was lovely to chat with!

All killer, no filler. Incredible traditional coffee drinks. Expert barista. Prices that are probably too low for the excellent quality. This isn't a place where you will study or meet people. It's a tiny shop. But it's a place where your 10 minutes there will rejuvenate your day. It's quiet, smooth, and excellent.

Spella is the closest you will get to italy in portland. the espresso is perfect and the ritual of it all completes the experience. proper espresso bars are hard to come by in the states, but spella delivers. there is a full espresso menu (ie lattes and cappuccinos and select flavors), alternative milks, and pastries. do not skip!!

One of the top three coffee shops I’ve been to in the city. Great for a quick stop. Incredibly smooth coffee. I got an oat milk vanilla latte, and it tasted like one combined flavor rather than three separate ones if that makes sense. Anyways love the place!

Spella offers top-notch coffee Italian-style: shots of espresso or milk drinks meant to be consumed standing up, a quick hit of caffeine to keep you going. This is exactly how Italians drink coffee, and I am glad Spella and Austin (the barista at this establishment) keep the tradition alive here in Portland.

Some of the best espresso I've had in Portland, tasted amazing. The barista who made it was welcoming and easy to talk to for questions. Highly recommend stopping by Spella Caffe when you're in the area!
Best coffee in Portland I've found so far. Baristas are always happy to chat and remember even semi-regulars. The space is a bit small but VERY clean and bright. Will always recommend this spot.

I consider myself a pretty snobbish espresso customer and this shop’s cappuccino hits the spot every time. It makes working nearby better. Spella is the best thing to happen to Pioneer Square neighborhood in a long time.

Spent a week in Portland on business. Travel throughout the country for my job. The highlight of my trips is waking up early and trying out the local shops in each major city before I start the work day. This one I was looking forward to because of Portland's reputation for good coffee. Well, I will say I was unimpressed with all (Good coffee, Barista, Stumptown, Case Study) except for Spella Cafe. Very good lever shots. Very tasty and strong traditional Italian espresso. Mark my works: Portlands rep as a go to destination for coffee will hinge on this small cafe. As for the other coffee shops, I pull a much better shot and prepare better milk based drinks on my E61 heat exchanger at home. I'm serious. No exaggeration.
