We've been looking for Malaysian place for food in Portland and there are 2... not sure why, this cuisine is amazing. So we tried the 1/2 and this place was so great! The flavors of the beef were spot on and the chicken was amazing. I definitely will go back if I'm on that side of town.

Found ourselves in Sellwood after a trip to Lewis and Clark College. The fried chicken bites bowl was absolutely the best bite I had in Portland and in a long while. Tender, juicy, flavor explosion chicken bites over a bed of jasmine rice and lightly dressed slaw. A must. We sampled another truck at Pic Nic park and it was a distant second. Plus the woman working the truck was super mellow cool!

I am a traveling nurse , so we tried dropping here to experiment their food.We have tried the Malaysian food for the first time, and guess what? The next day? We ordered 6 different types of their menus. Please drop by in these corner of Portland, where you will feel the ambiance of Eastern and Western food mixing together. What a place to eat again. FYI. I am very particular about taste, so if I gave 5 stars? It means a lot.

I have to give props to this food cart for delivering gourmet made-from-scratch food with amazing service- the food is SOOOOO DELICIOUS and the quality far exceeds my expectations. I've only tried a few dishes but i'm assuming you can't go wrong, it's all sooo yummy! Also everything is made to order, so you can tell it's all very fresh!

Once again you rocked the food!! It's been a while since it's been kinda cold. So my mom and I were working and both thought "Straits Kitchen", mom walked over and got something we have not had before the Laksa Lemak and it was absolutely delicious!!! We love you guys so much!!

The Vegan Stirfry has nice flavor and fun to try. The tofu was cooked well, which is hard to find, with a heap of bean sprouts, peppers, cabbage, scallions, and a couple of other veggies tossed in spicy coconut sauce on a large bed of rice. I would swap out some of the rice with more veggies like mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, snow peas, etc. The dish was a bit dry, I wish there was more sauce. I recommend trying the stirfry or ordering a different dish as a lot of Yelpers enjoyed this cart. I prefer the Vegan cart with bbq wings instead in this pod.

Super fantastic Malaysian/Singaporean place! The beef rendang is to die for, as good as any I've eaten in Malaysia!

I live in Upper NW, so Sellwood isn't exactly around the corner. And yet.... And yet I find myself jumping in the car and driving SE more often, simply because Straits is down there. My first encounter was the Inche Cabin and Acar Salad. The chicken, as often noted here, was deeply aromatic, crispy outside, and wonderfully tender once you bit on. The Acar Salad.... fermented veggies in a gorgeous dressing. Crisp, a bit sour and sweet, and truly satisfying. But it was the Rendang that finally got me. If you can find a better $10 meal in Portland, I'd love to know about it. This is a complex dish: the meat is tender but still full of flavor, and the spices just seem to keep unfolding as you go in. If I lived closer, I'd be eating here 3x/week....

We eat here nearly every week. The Inche Kabin chicken bites are the best chicken I've ever had. The Acar salad, sweet potato fries and fried Brussels sprouts are fabulous - I can't comment on anything else they serve because I get the same thing every time - I've been there like 50 times. And the owners are wonderful people.

Good food and healthy!! Nicely located next to New Seasons market so You can utilize the parking there. Otherwise, good food for the money!

Thanks yelpers for helping me find my dinner place for the night. I had the beef rendang and it was so close to perfection. It could have been maybe a tad more spicy for my taste, but then I do tend to eat more spicy than average. The beef was so flavorful and the turmeric rice cakes were so colorful. I was always told that you take the first bite with your eyes and Straits did not disappoint. My photo really doesn't do it justice. The truck is part of the Piknik Park, located in the Sellwood neighborhood. Highly recommend.
