This is one of our favorite places in Portland. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. I don't think many people know about this place, because you can always get a table and you shouldn't be able to always get a table here. It's our go-to when in Portland.

We picked this restaurant for pizza week. The service is pretty slow. We waited for our drinks for quite some time and they finally arrived just before our food came. We noticed that the people seated after us got their drinks before we did. The pizza was ok, but the sauce tasted like it olive brine in it. My Caesar salad was dry. We asked for pepper flakes and they never came. The pepper wasn't coming out of the pepper shaker, but knew it wasn't worth asking for more. It was ok, but didn't meet our expectations. It looks like such a nice restaurant that you would expect the food to be as delicious as the place is beautiful. Not the case.

Had a great experience here -- everything from the cocktails to the starters, entrees and desserts was best in class. Each of us felt that what we ordered had to be the best thing on the menu (Tavern burger, Tavern dip, chicken piccata), and I want to give a special shout out to the bread pudding dessert recommended by our waiter -- possibly the Platonic ideal of the form, no kidding around. This was a fairly random choice of restaurant for us (we needed something within walking distance of our hotel, with something for everyone), and we feel like we struck gold. We even tried to go back the next night, but it was closed for a private event -- guess we'll just have to wait till our next Portland trip!

Our waiter was very attentive. There were only two or three tables filled in the restaurant on a Friday night prime time for dinner..... Our waiter forgot to put in our appetizer, so our entrees were brought out before we got the appetizer so their solution was to take our dinner back and put it under the heat lights and bring out the appetizer. We finished our cocktails and ate the appetizer and then they brought our entrées back. As you can imagine, by then, our entrées were far less than ideal. The pork was like shoe leather. Our waiter was profusely apologetic about his mistake and I really appreciate he took accountability that he made the mistake. I would've loved to have tasty entrée. I ordered when it came out hot and fresh instead of sitting under the heat lamps for a half an hour..... the appetizer (pretzel) was really good though. I would've never thought to order this as an appetizer, but my dinner companion loved pretzels and said they did a very good job.

Taylor Street Tavern is conveniently located to many venues in downtown Portland. Service is friendly and timely. However, I was disappointed last night to find that the menu had changed and several of my "go to" dishes had been removed. The menu is carnivore centric. A further disappointment was finding that the bread pudding dessert was more like french toast sticks with a scoop of ice cream, not the warm, pudding consistency I was hoping for. All in all, it's a great option before catching a movie or a live performance.

Decided to have a Galentine's Day brunch with my girls. We had the “Bubbles with Bites” (basically their bottomless Mimosas). All the food was tasty! The chilaquiles were SO FLAVORFUL! Chicken was fried well. Juicy and tender. The waffles were light and airy, not dense. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and silky. Will definitely return. The seating was nice. Spaced out well. The ambiance was that of a spot you can go with your girls or date with your guy. Lief was bartending and servicing tables. Kept our glasses filled and was very attentive.

Had the best cocktails ever! Highly recommend and come see the bartender and ask for recommendations. They knew so much and were so fun to hang out with! We are coming back for sure!

If you’re looking for a well made cocktail this was the place! Joe & Brian were fantastic at following our palette and providing incredible cocktails. The menu cocktails are delicious and creative and they are both talented in creating something off menu for you as well. The desserts were delicious, and the service was wonderful. Great relaxing atmosphere, friendly, and worth the stop.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Very comfortable atmosphere. We got antipasto which was lovely to snack on with our drinks. The moonshine sangria was amazing.

Quick to dismiss loyal patrons for minor mistakes no matter how much history you may have. Their barstools have a crossbeam where your feet go. Guess what. If you happen to intertwine your feet with this iron cross at the base of your seat, and then maybe forget your feet are intertwined, you could possibly fall over when trying to move. To them, this is an automatic 100% guarantee that you are no longer suitable to be among them. They take your drink and kick you out. No regard whatsoever for your tenure, and your “perfect record”. Shameful. This treatment is unacceptable. I will not be a patron of this place ever again because of how I was treated. It’s sad because I loved this place and have spent a significant amount of money there over the past 10 years.

We've eaten here in the past before lecture events. Arrived on time, beverages ordered and received, unable to eat our ordered dinner as the order was taken @ 5:45 but still not on the table by 6:40 so we had to leave w/o eating as the lecture was sold out and there were lines to get into the Schnitz. VERY UNHAPPY that our pre-lecture dinner DIDN'T happen even though we informed server of the time constraints.

5:15 reservation for 2 before 7:00 show. Forty minutes to get our drinks. Thirty more minutes to get appetizer. Cancelled our dinner order after being there for 90 minutes so we wouldn't be late to the show a block away. Staff was professional and you could tell this is common for them. The old fashion and pear martini were spot on.

The food felt like it was made by a dishwasher who tried to step up when the actual cook bailed on the restaurant. Wife's pork chop was as so over cooked it was inedible and my rack of lamb was so undercooked I could actually still hear it bleating more over it looked like they carved it with a butter knife. There was more wrong with meal from unavailable wines to vile side vegetables and poorly heated desserts but you get the point. Go to south park across the street!!!!

For awareness: this bar charges you a 4$ surcharge on all cocktails/“mixed drinks”. I went back to ask the bartender why my receipt did not add up, and he explained the surcharge is to “cover expenses outside of the alcohol.” This is not advertised on the menu. If you know a whiskey sour, it’s 2 maybe 3 ingredients. This additional charge is ludicrous, on top of this being during happy hour. At the very least, include this surcharge in the price of your drinks.
I won’t be back for drinks ever again.

Picture is my receipt, arrows to show the surcharges.

Additionally: I also want to preface I was in a small group of POC women. I really hope this wasn’t a made up charge based on those factors. Because I’ve never had this happen before.
