This is one of our favorite places in Portland. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. I don't think many people know about this place, because you can always get a table and you shouldn't be able to always get a table here. It's our go-to when in Portland.
Had a great experience here -- everything from the cocktails to the starters, entrees and desserts was best in class. Each of us felt that what we ordered had to be the best thing on the menu (Tavern burger, Tavern dip, chicken piccata), and I want to give a special shout out to the bread pudding dessert recommended by our waiter -- possibly the Platonic ideal of the form, no kidding around. Our waiter was very attentive. There were only two or three tables filled in the restaurant on a Friday night prime time for dinner..... Our waiter forgot to put in our appetizer, so our entrees were brought out before we got the appetizer so their solution was to take our dinner back and put it under the heat lights and bring out the appetizer.
