I love this place so much! Just went for the first time and got the bacon breakfast sando and my boyfriend got the spicy katsu pork sando and we both loved them!! I was very surprised by how good the breakfast sandwich was, so much flavor and sauce. Still craving this every morning when I wake up. Can’t wait to come back for lunch.

I'm a sucker for open floor plans and giant windows. Love the natural lighting and so many places to sit down. The sando was delicious I really liked the extra kick of heat from the horseradish sauce. And the bread was soooooooo good!I'd have to say though I liked the katsu chicken tendies more. 10/10 will eat again ? The spicy katsu sauce is a must add if you like spice and the non spicy katsu was also delicious. Lastly you can never go wrong adding a side of fries. ?I can't wait to revisit soon,Cheers ?

I love this place, my favorite is the tofu classic sando. I took my sister here a few days ago (and she loved it too). I try to stop in whenever I'm in the area. Also their chocolate cream donut? Delicious. Wish there was a location in Eugene.

Update in march 2024: gave this place another try and boy oh boy did I have my world rocked.IT WAS SO GOODGot the breakfast sandwich and the spam sandwich, both were amazing. So amazing that I am changing my rating from 2 stars to 5.Now that they’ve gotten their feet under them in the last year, this place is really good!Review from a year ago for reference:Straight up bummed out on this spot.I was really looking forward to trying Tanaka as I have always been a fan of Afuri (pastry team of Afuri are the owners here). The pork katsu was cut way too big so the meat was left soggy with no texture in the sandwich. There was NO SEASONING like a sprinkle of salt would have heightened this significantly. And the katsu sauce they put in was too sweet and had far too much mustard or something similar. The desserts were a hit or miss. The coffee macaron was great but the raspberry and matcha ones were meh.The panna cotta was pretty good and had some boba balls on top giving some more flare. The hazelnut mousse was not mousse. It was dense and flavorless. I tasted no hazelnut only a mild bitter chocolate and sesame flavor. All in all bummed out, again was really hoping for a winner here but sadly not the case!

TANAKA serves up sandwiches that are nothing short of culinary masterpieces, truly a feast for the taste buds. Every bite is a delightful experience, showcasing the quality and creativity behind their menu. However, it's important to note that this level of deliciousness comes at a premium. The prices are steep, making it a splurge-worthy destination. If you're willing to invest in a sandwich experience that stands out from the rest, TANAKA is the place to go. Just be prepared for the check that matches the exceptional taste. The setting/atmosphere is bright & open.

Wanted to try the strawberry sando but they were all out. Came around 12pm on a Saturday. There weren’t a lot of sweet options at this time. If anything order ahead

Absolutely phenomenal sandwiches. I got the chicken katsu and it was sweet and perfectly filling. My girlfriend got the spicy pork katsu and it was actually spicy but not too spicy to enjoy. The dirty fries come a wonderful curry sauce that really adds to the meal. Highly reccomendVegetarian options: Egg salad and tofu options

Great spicy chicken sando. Not very spicy, just right with the slaw.

I’ve been to many katsu sandwich shops across the USA and this by far is in my top 3. Easy to order menu. Crispy not greasy chicken, perfect bread. The curry sauce is incredible and addicting. However the secret crown jewel is the bread pudding. Get it warmed. 10/10. Smashhh.

The spicy chicken sandwich was unreal. How do you do that? How you make so much joy in a little thing? The fries? Daaaamn good. That curry dipping sauce? I need it by the bucket.
