We've eaten there a couple times and absolutely love the food and atmosphere. My son and his girlfriend came from Louisiana and just had to go there because of Diners Drive Inns and Dives. We were not disappointed

Great bloody Mary's, great food too. Parking can be tough and it can be a wait to get in. Plan accordingly

Crisp home fries - almost a unicorn these days, and you can get them here. Benedict was above average. Hostess insisted on seating my party of one on a high bar stool, when several tables were unoccupied, and did not relent until I offered to just go somewhere else if it'd be an imposition. Server was very gracious about letting me take my breakfast to go when the noise level became unbearable. Go for the food, not the ambience.

Even on a Saturday the weight time was just right. The menu isn't expansive, and it doesn't need to be. You get quality with every item.

Duck and bacon meatloaf. ‘Nuff said. Seriously good food and great service!

Weekend special was pecan cinnamon rolls are WOW were they delicious! I wish I could say the same for my “seasonal” veggie hash, which had frozen peas in it.

The fish and chips are NOT TRADITIONAL!!! Their coleslaw is oily, their "ketchup" is curry ketchup and their tartar sauce was something different; it was like a thousand island dressing, without any of the good parts of thousand island dressing. However the special of the day was quite wonderful, my wife simply loved it. Overall the experience was not terrible but for our anniversary dinner it was unfortunate that the description for the fish and chips did not elaborate how unique and additional the flares would be for such a simple English dish.

Visiting Portland and have been eating a way around town! This was our last stop. A little disappointed. You have to pay $2.25 for an extra extremely small syrup because they only serve your meal with one. One amount covers maybe 1/4 of the pancakes, absolutely insane. I originally wanted an omelette they don't serve any normal omelette I was allowed to switch things out but they didn't have anything i wanted, hence regular peppers or even tomatoes. Was completely unsatisfied. I only gave 3 stars because my husband was so elated that the two pieces of art on the bathroom walls are by Ernie Barnes, maybe the owner doesn't even know who Ernie is!?? But that made him happy!!!

The fried Chicken is great. Onion rings were really good. The PO boy rivals new Orleans. Definitely go if you're in Portland

We've been here now twice, growing up in the Appalachian mountains gave me a special understanding for strong flavors. People that don't like salt, fat, or sweet should not come here. Meats cooked well and seasoned uniquely southern, sides all well considered and focused. My wife and I spent some time looking at the bad reviews and laughed. Fortunately for Country Cat word of mouth is more powerful than some McDonald's chef who doesn't like the ketup and deems that worthy of leaving one star.

Fantastic meal. I knew nothing of the place when my wife decided we were going there for dinner and was genuinely surprised. Creative menu and very high quality. We ate at the bar and the bartender took great care of us throughout the meal. Walked out painfully full but very happy.

Fried chicken is excellent! Prices are fair and the service is always friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is nicely curated with booths and tables as well as bar seating. Can be fairly busy during dinner, but it's worth the wait! Great Montavilla gems worth trying out.
