Stood in line for 20 minutes Different people working the register. There were approximately 12 to 15 people standing in line behind me but no one to take their order. Just as I got to the counter the person at the register left. And didn’t come back so I left.

Very mid food. Over medium eggs came out completely runny. Biscuits were hard, small, and mealy. Potatoes were cooked unevenly. Staff are friendly, but look clueless about how they work together. This place is also essentially self-service other than staff member bringing food (fill your own water, coffee, order at counter, etc) -- don't necessarily dislike that but thought it'd be helpful information for others.

The service, food, and atmosphere are fantastic! Their brioche french toast is delicious, especially with fresh peaches and whipped cream. I think my favorite part is the self administered, bottomless refills of Stumptown coffee.

Came to new deal cafe because it was walking distance of where i was getting my windshield replaced. Staff was so friendly and restaurant had a relaxing ambiance inside and out. I ordered the french toast and a side of bacon and had a iced latte and chose from a good selection of syrups and ended up on banana and caramel and it was amazing! The staff really made the experience so great and has been a great start to the morning

Certainly the worst breakfast I have ever eaten in the city of Portland, maybe the worst breakfast I have ever eaten in my life. We have eaten here many times over the years. I would never have called it a must eat, but it at least passed the test on the basics. Not the case any longer. Bacon snapped in half and was somehow room temperature, biscuit made me wish I had been given a Pillsbury biscuit cause that would have been closer to a biscuit than what I was served, and the “chicken apple sausage” was like flavored sand poured into a sausage casing.

Only saving grace was the dirty chai, it was a revelation worth having again. And my kids did enjoy their French Toast.

Dear Owners, it’s time to replace your cooks with a team that knows how to cook breakfast. After years of being a patron, I will not be back. Though I will take home my leftovers, maybe the dogs will eat them.

Really great food and nice place. It’s a little more “sit down” than I was expecting, but nice spot to take a long breakfast.

14.50 is not cheap for a burrito. Look up cheap breakfast and you come up. Not

Biscuits could be bigger for what they charge. Coffee is good.

All in all I enjoyed my breakfast, just got off the plane from Southern California needed to find some breakfast quickly came down here to The New Deal Cafe, I ordered the farmhouse scramble which I did enjoy. Although the bacon was a little overcooked too crispy for my taste, the home fries were delicious. Their mushroom country gravy was like crack cocaine. I couldn't stop putting it on my food and the house biscuits were pretty sad. The Strumptown Brand coffee was also very good. I enjoyed it. The location kind of looked like a dive from the outside but it was very well seated on the inside, The atmosphere was nice with some grateful Dead on the radio and the service staff was very friendly, there is only residential parking so be ready for that. Please put pork sausage on the menu.

Placed a to go order and they didn't include any sauce for a meal that contained 3 different sauces. We called them three times to no answer and eventually left a voicemail to try and rectify the situation. They never called back. Food was incredibly bland without the promised toppings. An expensive way to ruin what could have been a nice weekend brunch.
