Just checked this place out for the first time and am so mad that it took me so long. Outstanding cocktails and burgers. The place feels like old school Portland. Not weird for weirdness sake. It's not a dive, but not so fancy that it doesn't feel relaxing and casual. They have a nerdy/sci-fi theme, but mostly in the cocktail names. You definitely won't feel out of place if you're not into sci-fi or D&D.
The service was exceptional. Both bartenders were great about cocktail recommendations and were genuinely interested in making sure we liked the food and drinks, but not in a hovering awkward way.
This place checks so many boxes. Pricing was super reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The Shaku burger is ridiculously good.

One of my favorite bars! The food and service is awesome. Try the smash burger and fried kimchi. If you’re looking for a low alcoholic drink, try their seltzers (specifically a milky melon, tastes just like a melon soda). Overall, a great place to get a drink, a bite to eat, and meetup with friends. Mark, Trent, and Matt are the best. :)

The shaku burger made me the man I always wished I was. Reading the cocktail menu was like stumbling upon a lost work of Hemingway.
If you love yourself, order the furikake fries. If you don’t, unpack that with a professional

My best friend and I ended up at this bar one night and never looked back. This is our go-to bar whenever we go out for drinks or food. The drinks are phenomenal (try the “Going Merry,” it’s really great), the food is exceptional, and the vibes are flawless. Mark, Trent, and Matt are so kind and talented and we always have a great time talking to them. The Shaku Bar is truly a gem on NE Sandy and I tell all of my friends about it.

Great bar, fabulous food every time, and the owners are amazing. The only downside is how loud it can get in there sometimes- some plants or sound proofing on the ceiling would make a big difference in my opinion. But I've never had anything but a great experience every time I've gone here - I love this place!
Vegetarian options: They listen and can accommodate!
What a freaking gem. I mean it's nestled in between two bigger restaurants, so, do a double take. Walk on in .... it's rad and small enough to carry on a conversation with the bartenders. Speaking of bartenders, that conversation I was talking about? Yak it up. They know what they're doing and they'll make you some interesting combinations. Really cute for a date night. And their patio, probably seats like 30 people so enjoy it when you have the chance.
