This is the best tasting wonton soup I've had in so long. So yummy. It's so flavorful and it tasted so fresh. We have eaten here a few times. Great food. Love the pork vermicelli. This time I got large size takeout wonton. Let me tell you the portion size is huge. Did not disappoint. So happy. ❤️

The service here is RIDICULOUSLY good! You cannot want for anything without a check-in. I've missed this kind of old school attentive service.

While it's not Portland's #1 dim sum, if I want dim sum on a weekend, I'm coming here. Fast seating, even faster service - you can be eating in minutes.

I haven't had a bad dish here and feel it deserves a higher rating. Give them a try, especially if you wanna avoid the crowds :)

Absolute fire every single time never disappoints

Exactly what I was hungry for. They took the time to make sure my requests were met and I couldn't be happier. I passed by three other places to get there, and it was well worth the walk. The food is consistently excellent. The Savory sauce didn't overpower the tender fresh veggies. Very satisfying. I will be back.

For it being an authentic place, it's very mid. Meaning, below average. Pho was tasteless. Was basically water with noodles.

It's a hidden gem in PDX area for delicious, consistent quality and flavor, never reheated from frozen Dim Sum 7 days a week! Go check them out!

I have been eating here on and off since 2016. Started in late 2021 to present, I slowly came back for selective items on their big menu because we moved to Portland and only live 12 minutes away.

It's a small family owned restaurant. Most staff speak 2-3 languages: English, Vietnamese, and Chinese (I can't tell you which dialect because I don't speak Chinese)! You will recognize familiar faces if you come here more than once. It's a good place for big group gatherings and you can be loud here over food, not alcohol.

This 5 stars review is for:
1. Local family owned.
2. Fresh, delicious, and consistent quality for Dim Sum at a very reasonable price, unlike the overrated reheated from frozen spot right down a few blocks which I will not need to named here.
3. For reason #2, Thien Hoang is our go to spot for monthly Dim Sum with friends!
4. Deep fried taro dumplings with stuffed mashed taro and ground pork is my all time favorite Dim Sum and it makes fresh here!
5. My comfort custom made to order dry egg noodles stir fry with soy sauce with or without veggies and add any protein you want or not.

Their big menu is mixed with traditional and comfort Vietnamese food, Chinese food, and some cross over. I ate pretty much most of the well known dishes.

Overall rating of their dishes, I would give it 3/5. Items I have eaten: bún riêu, cá kho tộ/caramelized catfish in clay pot, canh chua cá/Vietnamese sweet and sour soup, several clay pot dishes, Vietnamese salads, and beef broccoli.

Some of my favorite dishes here are 5/5: fried taro balls, dry stir fry egg noodles with soy sauce, seafood congee (Vietnamese style), garlic stir fry rau muốn, and garlic stir fry snow peas leaves.

Perks:
-Hot tea is complementary.
-No automatic service charge for big group so make sure you tip them good, 20% or more, and as always cash is the preferred method for tip!

Good fresh food

Low ceiling, open area without privacy. Loud music. Food is better than average. We reserved 7 tables at $500 apiece. That breaks down to $50 per person. Expensive.

I usually order Steam and Salt Chicken and get delivery from Thien Hoang thru GrubHub. It was amazing. I LOVE it so much!

Excellent. We just got takeout for the first time and we will be back. Super sweet service. Delicious sauces, very satisfying, very fresh, great flavours. Excited to try other things on the menu.

I don't often write reviews for places, but I finally decided to write one for Thien Hoang because of how consistent they are with their service and food. A lot of Asian places don't have the best service (if we're comparing them to Western restaurants), and Thien Hoang is one of the exceptions. Their servers are very nice and attentive. Their service is one of the best I have seen when it comes to Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants. The dim sum is not the best, but it's decent for the price! In terms of entrees, the papaya salad, snow pea leaves, salt & pepper squid, and spareribs (dry or sauce) are some of my favorites. Everything is reasonably priced.
