I grew up eating Chinese pastries from the bakeries in Seattle's international district, and I fully maintained they were unmatched in quality... Until stopping by Mei Sum in Portland during a weekend visit.First of all, I have never seen ham sui gok (savory fried "football") outside of dim sum. Stopped by here because I was craving for some Hum Bao and met these two sweet and nice ladies there. We ended up getting (6) Hum Baos, (1) curry pastries, (2) chicken pastries, (2) bbq pork pastries, (1) cream horn. The hum baos were perfect like always... wished there was a bit more filling but the bread was delicious on its own. Yummiest bakery I’ve been in Portland. The sesame ball I got was perfect and the owners were so kind - they even gave me a complimentary custard bun I’m excited to share with my friend after our workout.
